Back at it

I counted my miles of jogging and running for 2009 last night:   1382 total.  That was better than 2008 which was 1115 total but then in '08 I only counted running miles - no jogging included.  It wasn't bad but I'm still working toward a total of 1500.  Maybe 2010 will bring more miles, faster running and greater motivation.  We shall see. It wasn't so bad getting up early today because I fell asleep last night sometime before 9pm.  I decided to do 5 minutes of running on the treadmill mixed with weights and resistance training inbetween running.  The result [...]

Heading Out to Warmer Weather

We are packing our bags and getting ready for some SC sunshine. Yahooey! Lets make a comparison:    Well, it’s not perfect, but the 39 degrees over the 3 degrees is a definite attraction in my book. I knew it was going to be super windy and cold this morning so I did 25 minutes on the ET and a 10 minute fast run on the TM.  Add the 30 minutes of weight work out (legs and shoulders) and this morning turned out to be pretty productive.  Shane and I walked 3.2 miles.  It wasn’t a fast pace but it [...]

Healthy Smiles

If you eat oatmeal, do you have a favorite brand: Quaker? Kashi? Bob’s Red Mill?  or kind:  steel cut? rolled? quick cooking? Here’s my favorite: During these Fall months, my favorite addition is Pumpkin.  Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut Oatmeal with Pumpkin and…. Raisins, Almonds, and slices of orange on the side. Blueberries, raisins, and fresh strawberry slices. Pumpkin seeds, yogurt, blueberries, strawberries, and few cashews for crunch. What’s your favorite way to eat oatmeal?

Homemade Apple Sauce

What happened?  We turned the clocks back which meant I had an extra hour to sleep. It should have been really easy to get up, right?   No!  The alarm went off and I laid there.  It was 20 minutes later that I was in the bathroom, brushing teeth and thinking…”OH NO!”   The workout was cut a bit short as I had some baking to do before work.  It was 10 minutes of running, 10 minutes of rowing, 5 minutes back to a run, and 5 minutes on the Elliptical.  I was SO CONFUSED!  Weight work out lasted 30 minutes.  Constant [...]

Joy in the Rain

Rain is good.  That’s what I was telling myself as I toweled Shane off outside and hung my dripping wet clothes in the laundry room…for the second time in 4 days.  My rainy day sneakers worked better today because I didn’t go wading through the deep puddles.  I stayed on the sidewalks, avoiding holes, and didn’t cross any wet fields or lawns.   We jogged 3.4 miles today.  The weight workout was good.  It was back and triceps day preceded by 35 minutes on the Elliptical.  I was hungry this morning and couldn’t wait to get into that fresh pineapple which [...]
