Indianapolis Monumental Marathon 2019

In researching most likely BQ marathons for fall running, it seemed a lot of people achieved their goal on this Indianapolis course.  In addition, I had never been to Indiana and so to add to my list of state races, I opted in.  It seemed like the course had runners going past historic monuments and other interesting areas.  A lot of support by way of aide stations and crowds.  Names were on the bibs if you registered early enough and you know what a boost it can be to hear your name yelled out during a race!   Since I like [...]

Broken Wrist Recovery and Oven Baked Egg and Lentil Dinner

This wrist recovery is going slow at least for me. I have been running, completing 44 miles this past week.  Running outside gets painful after a few miles. My wrist tends to cramp up.  I usually walk fast with Luke for about a mile and a half then take Zoey for 3 to 5 miles.  When I get home, I hop on  the treadmill and finish my run with a brace on the wrist.  Big news this week:  new treadmill!  Awesome! T50XER by Matrix. Love it.  I’ve resolved to do speed work on the mill and only if the roads [...]

Another Day in the Sunny South

We are loving this sunshine and warm weather. Sue and I start our day with our individual exercise routine, be it walk or run.  Zoey likes the exercise as well.  Friday morning was a shorter run for Zoey and I since the long run of the week was on tap for Saturday.  We did a quick 37 minutes or 4 mile run around Heritage before cooking up an awesome EggBeater omelet preceded by a large bowl of mixed fruit and berries. Feeling fit! Saturday’s long run was relaxed. I went out with Z for 6 1/2 then left the plantation [...]

Greenlakes Syracuse and Zucchini with Butternut Squash

The weather in New York was perfect this weekend so we spent a lot of time outside. Saturday:  Ted had a practice swim with the CNY Tri Club.  What a great group!  Wish I could get into swimming and biking but it’s not my thing. Thank goodness it IS Ted’s thing so we can enjoy these group gatherings with wonderful people. Ted had a good swim. The water was cool but nice once he got moving. He did 2 laps: 2 x 800 yards. Before the group set out on their practice swim, I ran around the first lake to [...]

All Day Workout Fun

Ted and I had no definite plans for the long weekend so we decided on a bike trip.  Monday aka Labor Day turned out to be beautiful.  It wasn’t outrageously hot and there was a slight breeze.  Both of us took advantage of our time off and the weather by enjoying (YES! “enjoying”) a speed workout at the track.  Ted did great with minimum soreness in his knee and I was thrilled with my paces.   So rare for us to enjoy running in circles around a track exerting our selves more than we’d like on a day off. The forecast [...]
