Bitten by the bug and Oatmeal Banana Cookies

I’ve been a lax-blogger.  Didn’t have the energy which is very out of sorts for this “energizer bunny”.  Both my sister and I were bitten by the bug in Myrtle Beach and I’m still struggling with it. Nauseous, deep chest cough, the occasional sneeze, I’m not used to being sick.  In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I was this ill. We’re talking years.  It’s not fun. What happens to the training schedule when your sick?  I guess it should go on hold but try telling that to the Boston Marathon obsessed.  I’ve made some really questionable choices [...]

Miles on the Mill and Swordfish Fingers with Salsa Dip

Determined to make up for yesterdays “Oh to heck with it” attitude, I was on the treadmill early so I could pound out a long run. The weather looks horrendous for running outside.  That is until the later part of the week and I don’t want to wait until Thursday to get any longer run in since the 10K is on Saturday and I'd like to be as fresh as possible for it. The race has quite a challenging hill. Here’s the profile on mapmyrun if interested:   Beer & Chili Run, 10K. As for today, 15 miles were accomplished on [...]

CEimB Walnut Cherry Bars

This week the  CEimB group is making something good and guilt free. That’s not unusual but we have been kind of stuck in a dinner/salad rut lately so these little goody bars were perfect. We were ready for them. The pick by Heide of Chez Zero who is one busy lady, was just what Ted and I wanted after the holiday plates of overly sweet treats. If Heide doesn’t have the recipe up yet, you can find it HERE. My version is below. Walnut and Dried Cherry Bars – Joanne’s version should read “Chocolate and Dried Cherry Bars” There were [...]

CEimB: 5 Layer Mexican Dip

Oh yeah.  Good recipe for a football Sunday. I was watching the game and making the dip – on the sofa, off the sofa, on the sofa, off the sofa. I didn’t cook anything except to heat the corn which is not quite how this recipe goes.   This weeks recipe pick was the wonderful choice of Heather from The Mama Cooks .  Make sure to click on over there to see how this delicious recipe is actually made.  It can also be found on line at this link:  The FoodNetwork. My ingredients were:   Differences from original recipe in red.  1 [...]

Road Food

NOTE:   Please excuse the format ...for some reason and AGAIN!!!! Windows live writer isn't working and WORDPRESS won't format correctly....sorry!!!! :( First morning waking up in South Carolina.  Even though we went to bed at 12 AM after visiting a bit with Mum and Dad after our arrival at 10 pm, Shane and I were up at 6:20 to go for a 4 mile run around Heritage Plantation.  It was 46 degrees, a bit wet from last nights rain, but perfect running weather.  Apart from an older gent who had LOUD GAS (he was picking up his newspaper and didn’t know [...]

And then there were none

And then there were none…referring to the mice I’m trying to catch in our cellar.  However, I think there might be some kind of “WELCOME – ENTER HERE” sign somewhere outside our house because so far I’ve caught three mice.    Unless it’s one mouse who is goofing on me and keeps coming back for more peanut butter, knowing full well his life is not in danger.  Now I have to add that where I am catching them is a wine room, cold storage so we don't go in there often.  It's not like we are living with all these mice [...]
