Leg workout

Sleepers, Working Legs, Gluten Free Zucchini Orange Bread

This is how I get to spend my Saturday nights…The Sleepers What an exciting life we have! Monday morning was much more fun.  Ted got up early to work with me on the first day of building leg muscle.  Warm up:  20 minutes on the elliptical. Workout: 45 minutes working legs and abs.  Phew!  Ted’s tough!  We did leg press, dead lifts, squats, walking lunges, step ups (hate those!), leg extensions, leg curls, and calf raises.  3 sets x 10 to 20 reps.  This doesn’t sound too different from what I was doing weeks ago, but the weight was a [...]

Layered Vegetables 1-2-3

I'll start at the very beginning which would be the morning leg workout.  I didn't do any exercise that I thought was going to cause agony for the next 3 days.  Getting a bit tired of that. It was a good leg workout, doing presses with squats, extensions with dead lifts, curls with calf raises, ending with ball squats against the wall with a 15 lb bar.  The warm up was a 3o min run.  I didn't want to run outside with Shane today because he decided to go on a hunger strike yesterday.  Following the weight workout, we went for a [...]

Steel Cut Oatmeal

A while ago I bought a different brand of steel cut oats, "John McCann Steel Cut Oat Meal" It's actually referred to on the can as Irish Porridge.  The nutritional information is comparable to other steel cut oat brands. The taste is nutty with a slight chew.  I love the storage can!  It is so official looking with the words "Certificate of Award, Uniformity of Granulation" Then there are some approval identifications by the President of Departmental Committee and a Judge, Mr. Chas. Keith, and others. The ingredients is simply 100% wholegrain Irish oats.  Maybe that's the slight taste difference.  [...]

Applesauce Oats

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  But most importantly, Happy Birthday Teddy!  Teddy is 28 today.  We will see him for dinner tonight. Ted is cooking the two of them a turkey tenderloin.  As for breakfast, I added 1/2 a cup of Organic 100% applesauce to the Bob's Red Mill 10 Grain cereal this morning.  A little cinnamon was added and a few raisins.  It was very good. Not too sweet and the flavor of the applesauce was more prominent than if I had added fresh apples.  The cinnamon was barely detectable but the raisins give it that burst of sweetness in [...]

Gadgets

Some of us are gadget people and others could care less. This blogger is a gadget fanatic.  This is only a few of the items found around this house:  food dehydrator, flat bread maker, regular bread maker, food processor, 4 blenders, coffee press, coffee pots, coffee bean grinder, orange peeler, various style graters, meat thermometers, candy thermometers, funky styled pots and pans that are for all different cooking variations....the list continues.   This morning, while putting in the miles on the tread mill, a commercial appeared advertising some type of egg cooker.  "Ah Ha! I have one of those!"  The egg cooker was [...]

Was it a crime?

This morning, as Shane and I turned toward the Gym at MVCC,  we saw a questionable situation.  There is usually a bicycle chained to a post at the corner of the building.  I have seen it there throughout this nasty winter.  Today, there was a person (moved like a man) lumbering across the parking lot toward the Gym building.  He went right to the bike and began sawing at the chain.  It actually went through my mind whether to say something or not.  Would he say something to me like "not to worry - it's my bike". NO.  It was 5:30 AM... [...]
