Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut Oats

Kitchen Mishap

There was an accident in the kitchen last evening while preparing dinner so I am temporarily one typing finger short.   Therefore this mornings post will be told in pictures.         That's it for now.  I would take a pic. of my injury but it's too gross for me to look at it. Ted is having to change the bandages.  Have a great day!

Gadgets

Some of us are gadget people and others could care less. This blogger is a gadget fanatic.  This is only a few of the items found around this house:  food dehydrator, flat bread maker, regular bread maker, food processor, 4 blenders, coffee press, coffee pots, coffee bean grinder, orange peeler, various style graters, meat thermometers, candy thermometers, funky styled pots and pans that are for all different cooking variations....the list continues.   This morning, while putting in the miles on the tread mill, a commercial appeared advertising some type of egg cooker.  "Ah Ha! I have one of those!"  The egg cooker was [...]

Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride

Doesn't that sound yummy?  "Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride".  It may be out of season, but it still makes your mouth water.  It is the name of my latest Celestial Seasonings tea.  I used one tea bag to flavor my oatmeal this morning. "Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride Oats". 1/4 cup Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats. Water. 1 flavored tea bag. Cinnamon and raisins to taste.  To be so deserving of such a great bowl of oatmeal, this is how my morning began. Up 30 min. later than normal - must have been that "springing forward" that messed up my clock. [...]

Wide Eyed Wonderful Tuesday

It was a GREAT day to wake up today!  Why? Who knows... just happened. The alarm went off - complete surprise. Meaning, I didn't anticipate it by laying there half awake. I turned it off with no thoughts of delay, I was out of bed, in the bathroom, brushing, putting on clothes, and downstairs to grab water and a shake. Wow, did I feel good. I was working legs today. To get a little bit of work done for my upper body, I did the elliptical for 20 minutes and the rowing machine for 15 minutes. Leg workout, 30 minutes: [...]

Friday – the lead in

Another week absolutely flew by. Now it's Friday, the prelude to the weekend.  No plans... not yet anyway.  Both of us got up early yesterday and today in order to work off some of that Key West fat we accumulated earlier in the week.  It was worth it....the fat accumulation of course.      This morning was a long walk with my main "dog", Shane.  We went 4.23 miles under an hour.  It was wonderful walking weather, no wind, the roads were clear. We actually saw two other dog walkers and had our usual encounter with walker "Dude".  The nutrition to get me walking and to [...]

Trying Nike

Yesterday my new pair of winter runners arrived.  I'm not a Nike sneaker person anymore - just their clothes. I switched to Saucony as my brand of choice and remain pretty faithful to them, however, when I was doing a search for winter/weatherproof running shoes, the Nike Structure Triax II came up on sale. I tried them out this morning and they're great!  I would have bought Saucony but didn't see what I was looking for in the description.  Getting out of bed was a real chore. The alarm went off and it was a total surprise. I was having [...]
