On a Sunday

Ted was still snoring when I woke up.  Shane and I headed out the door as it was beginning to get light out.  Around the back streets of Utica parallel to Culver Ave.  We took a right when we got to Bleecker St. and found the back way into the park. Shane waited for me as I made my way around the icy path When you exit the back woods into the park, there is a creek that flows.  Children will wade in it during the summer. I’m not sure if it’s that clean or where the water comes from but…kids don’t [...]

Just Because … and the winner is

Just because today is a perfect day.  A 5 1/2 mile Sunday early morning walk with my dog. Just because I love my husband.  At Bob and Nancy’s home for a gathering of friends. Thanks for the beautiful scarf, Nancy…. Just because we have wonderful friends.  Everyone trying to get their photo taken by Party Shot. I brought my new Automatic Photographer that is used with my new Sony camera to the party last night.  It amused us all.  What a terrific gadget.  You need to place it on a level surface in a well lit room and away it [...]

Blueberry Hill

It was a pretty descent morning for a longer walk outside.  It was 25 degrees, no wind, no snow.  The roads were slick in some areas but for the most part, clear.  We explored a couple of different neighborhoods and took advantage of some short hills.  Our mileage for today, 4.3 miles.  We walked and just jogged along a little. The 1/2 banana with about 1 TBS peanut butter was my pre-walk kick in the behind.  For breakfast, I was feeling berry-ish.  I made a Smooth Banana Protein Shake with 1/2 cup frozen blueberriesand 1/2 cup FUZE.  My hot cereal [...]

Wintery White

When we first set out on our walk this snowy Sunday morning, it was coming down fairly hard.  In fact we thought we might go back and get sunglasses and hats to prevent the snow from hitting us in the eyes.  It was a beautiful sight though. The snow falling and still clean on the roads with a backdrop of early morning light.  So fresh. So crisp.  We brought along Shane's little frisbee which can be tucked away in my coat pocket until we come across a wide open clearing so we can play.  This happened on about the 13th [...]

Dinner with Good Friends

dinner with friends    Good Sunday Morning, All!  Last night Ted and I enjoyed the company of some good friends at one of the old Italian restaurants, Grimaldi's.  We had more than enough great food starting with tomato pie, then some great hot bread, onto some garlic pizza, and everyone else enjoyed the greens (they contained prosciutto - so I didn't indulge but was certainly eyeballing the hot cherry peppers-bummer!). For dinner, Ted compared Grimaldi's veal Alfredo to Fridays veal dish at Bella Cucina which was veal Giovanni.  He actually preferred the Giovanni said it had a bit more flavor. [...]
