Cazenovia Triathlon 2011 and The Things Kids Say

Something was up.  Ted was yawning, I was grumpy, but we had a triathlon to complete and we were up early, ready to go. Cazenovia, N.Y. It was quite a walk from where we were able to park to the transition area of the event and the amount of people – wow! A lot of folks turned out to compete in this technical, challenging Sprint, Olympic, or Aqua bike event.  Set up You can tell, he just wasn’t feeling it.  That face says “Don’t make me have to smile, GRRRRR.” I left Ted to get his stuff set up while [...]

Arthur, M.R.R and Taste of the Tropics Pasta

At The Movies… We were pleasantly surprised with the remake of the movie “Arthur” Although we started watching it with a lot of skepticism, the result was hysterical laughter through many of the scenes. We like Russell Brand so much, we picked up another movie, “Get Him to the Greek” DUD!  We didn’t even watch it to the half way point.  It wasn’t our style.  Call us prudes but we don’t like heavy druggy movies.  It’s just not funny. See any good movies lately? M.R.R. = Mid Range Run It was a terrific morning to run.  The humidity was down [...]

Didn’t seem like much and Broiled Tilapia with Sabra Hummus Parmesan

Tuesday, I did a bit of cross training for my morning workout:  chest & arms followed by 40 minutes on the bike. Since I had written down “3 1/2 miles running”, I was determined to get that run in.  It was getting late and there was time pressure so I got on the treadmill and ran a 5K pace.  I worked up a great sweat. My mood was so far elevated, I could touch the moon all day! What didn't seem like it was going to be much of a workout left me feeling OH SO GOOD! Wednesday morning an [...]

Smart Dog and Veggie Bean Burgers

You know, I brag that my dog is smart but then again…I have to wonder…. The other night when Ted and I were ready for bed, Shane was laying on my side, as usual, with only four legs showing from under the bed. At 1:30 AM, I woke to desperate whining. I thought Shane might be desperate to go out. As I walked around the bed, No Shane! The whining continued. I looked down to see a nose poking out from underneath the bed on Ted’s side. Shane had worked his way all the way across the carpet to the [...]

Run Recovery and CEimB Stir Fried Bok Choy with Tofu or Pork

A week or two before running the Boilermaker, I was getting tired.  Call that BURNOUT.  There were few days that I was enthusiastic about getting out of bed for a run.   I made myself a promise that after the Boilermaker I would take a three day break from running.   Two of those days I was successful.  By the third day, my head wanted to run, my legs wanted to go back to bed. Monday after the race, I got up to work with weights and rode the bike with Ted for 10 miles in 35 minutes.  That was a good [...]

Owasco Man Sprint Triathlon

What a day! This is a long vacation weekend right? We relax, kick back with friends, celebrate the Fourth of July…the last two might apply but relax?  No way. Not us. Saturday:  Long run of the week,  14 miles.  I took Shane for 5 1/4 then continued on down the Boilermaker course and back, zig-zagging to get in 14 miles. Not one iota more! After I dropped Shane off, I took a Gu Roctane.  I was tired so I tried to focus on the beautiful morning and how nice to be outside running easy, no pressure.  But things started hurting.  [...]
