Delta Lake Triathlon 2014

The day was perfect. The water for athletes was perfect. And the participant’s shirts were pretty darned perfect.   ATCEndurance Ted had a good event, getting a beer glass for third in his age group.  Time 3:09 His swim was probably slower by a minute or so than usual for the Olympic distance.  In fact his comment as he ran past us to transition was “That seemed to take forever”.  At one point, a woman swam over the top of him.  That would slow me down. He transitioned well and onto the bike course, 24 miles. Does he look as if [...]

Greenlakes Triathlon 2014: Family Fun

The Greenlakes Triathlon Syracuse YMCA couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day in upstate New York.  As usual, this event received an A+ in every area from organization, enthusiastic volunteers, spectators, to the finish line fun and food.  A little bit about this event from the website: livestrong at the YMCA Green Lakes Triathlon & Race Weekend It's three races in an amazingly beautiful venue, including the 35th-Annual YMCA triathlon. These races are run entirely by volunteers, meaning that 100% of the money raised supports the charitable work of the YMCA, particularly the YMCA's free programs for cancer survivors. [...]

Skinny Man 2013

Skaneateles, New York was the setting for this weekends sprint triathlon.  We both wished we had pulled an over-night for this race because the town of Skaneateles is so cute, so clean, with many little shops, boutiques, unique vendors, it’s not only a shop-a-holic’s heaven but also a foodies mecca. The well known Sherwood Inn for good food, cozy rooms for overnight stays and live music on the weekends. But now for Ted’s last triathlon recap of 2013. There were race volunteers everywhere to help participants find their way from check in, bag pick up, body marking to transition.  The [...]

Old Forge Triathlon 2013

Can you believe two weekends in a row?  Ted is at it again: swimming, biking, and running.  This was the last event of the ATCendurance 2013 races.  How sad and how unbelievable that we are already nearing the end of summer.  The Old Forge Triathlon is one of my favorites to spectate.  It’s a fun and interesting place to walk around while waiting for your athlete.  If you’re there to watch multiple athletes, you can see them coming and going from all angles.  The Race Ted was set up and ready to go by 7:30 am.  One last trip to [...]

Cazenovia Sprint Triathlon 2013

Athletes, volunteers and spectators couldn’t have asked for a better day to enjoy an endurance event.   The weather was clear and mild the entire morning.  Ted was our favored athlete with Zoey and myself has the fan club. Zoey’s “dog eye” view of her main man and the beautiful sky. Ted had a great swim, a little long in transition before getting on the bike but no cramping.  This year, the club changed the transition area as well as the on – off bike entrance.  It was much better with no crashes or skids on hard pavement.  Great call, CNY [...]

Cooperstown Sprint 2013

The first local triathlon for 2013.  The weather was not on our side.  At the beginning of the week, race staff reported water temperatures at 50 degrees with hopes that warmer weather would arrive and at least get the water over the 55 degree mark.  It didn’t happen.  Rain and cooler temperatures forced the first triathlon to become a duathlon.  It was a disappointment to the athletes but for everyone’s safety, the best choice. Ted was ready even though he is still wrestling with that sore Achilles.  He enjoys these events and no pain is going to stop him from [...]
