Cazenovia 2012 Triathlon

Another Sprint distance triathlon to add to Ted’s growing list of endurance events.  Today was going to be a good day.  We set up in transition early this year.  The unfortunate result of early set up is the long wait for Ted’s group to go out. The event began at 8 am, Ted wouldn’t get into the water until 8:50 am.  There were a total of 7 groups and purple caps were number 6 to start the event.  The worst part of any race is waiting for the start. The water was calm and the sun began to shine once [...]

Delta Lake Intermediate Distance Triathlon 2012

It was Ted’s first Olympic (Intermediate) distance triathlon and he was a STAR! Setting up The weather was just perfect.  It was foggy early in the morning but quickly burned off as the sun radiated it’s warmth over the lake. We arrived at the event by 6:50 am (start time for Ted was 8 am) and transition was already crowded. The ATCEndurance team had the music playing and were busy setting up buoys, finish area, tables, and all that goes on with these events.  Hard work but they did it just fine! Ted found his spot in a crowded transition [...]

Owasco Man Triathlon 2012

It just amazes me how wide awake we are on the weekends, before the sun comes up, before our alarms go off.  If there is a race event, Ted and I are ready to go, no matter what the time. Saturday morning we were leaving the house before the sun came up, heading toward Emerson Park for the Owasco Man Sprint Triathlon.  Last year, we left late and had to really scramble to get Ted set up and over to the swim start which is quite a hike from transition.  This year, we had 45 minutes to spare.  The extra [...]

Cooperstown Triathlon 2012

Ted’s first triathlon of the year.  We were a little late and after joking about not wearing the chip while driving to Cooperstown at 6:45 am, don’t you know, 10 minutes before the start, we realize Ted never got his ankle chip.  That will teach us. Getting ready Entering the water, 62 degrees (so I was told) Getting ready for his favorite part of the race, the bike! Didn’t go quite the way he wanted but wasn’t bad. and for Ted, his least favorite part of the triathlon, the run! Just seconds away from finishing… FINALLY! Finished! That was number [...]

Cazenovia Triathlon 2011 and The Things Kids Say

Something was up.  Ted was yawning, I was grumpy, but we had a triathlon to complete and we were up early, ready to go. Cazenovia, N.Y. It was quite a walk from where we were able to park to the transition area of the event and the amount of people – wow! A lot of folks turned out to compete in this technical, challenging Sprint, Olympic, or Aqua bike event.  Set up You can tell, he just wasn’t feeling it.  That face says “Don’t make me have to smile, GRRRRR.” I left Ted to get his stuff set up while [...]
