Delta Lake Triathlon 2011

What a day.  A PR for Ted.  A great race on a gorgeous Central New York day. The Delta Lake Triathlon of 2010 triggered Ted’s interest in the sport.  We were on the road by 6 am and arrived at the park by 6:45 am to set up. There were over 300 athletes in this event.  The 2nd running of the Delta Lake Triathlon.  The beautiful weather and the success of 2010 enticed seasoned as well as the newbie triathlete to race this year. The Intermediate distance men took off at 8 am in white caps. Followed by the intermediate [...]

Owasco Man Sprint Triathlon

What a day! This is a long vacation weekend right? We relax, kick back with friends, celebrate the Fourth of July…the last two might apply but relax?  No way. Not us. Saturday:  Long run of the week,  14 miles.  I took Shane for 5 1/4 then continued on down the Boilermaker course and back, zig-zagging to get in 14 miles. Not one iota more! HERE COMES RICHARD! Ted and I got a late start and didn’t arrive at the beautiful Greenlakes State Park in Syracuse until 8:45, 15 minutes after the start of the Triathlon.  We hit a line of cars going into the park because some athletes were already heading out on their bikes.  We turned and tried to enter through the Golf Course.  That didn’t [...]

Cooperstown Triathlon

Ted first triathlon.  He made us all proud. But let’s go back to Saturday when we drove to Cooperstown for a quick dip in the water for one last test “drive” of the wet suit before race day.   It was cold.  Ted said it felt colder than the week before.  He did a quick out and back then said he was ready.  The organizers of the Cooperstown Triathlon couldn’t have chosen a prettier venue for the race. Historic Cooperstown, New York.  The baseball hall of fame town. Home of Ommegang Brewery and Fly Creek Cider Mill.  Fun places to visit. [...]
