A Girl Trip

Just the girls road trip to South Carolina.  Sue did all the driving because I’m a turd and hate driving. In my defense, I did not sleep ONCE while we were on the road.  Zoey on the other hand poked her head into the front seat every couple of hours when it was time to walk and stretch and do other things that dogs (and people) need to do. We’re enjoying a visit with Mum and Dad as well as the hot weather while the North East is suffering through a dreaded cold spell. Check out those morning temperatures! Zoey [...]

Riding after Running

What a great morning “after” we had.  Both Ted and I ran the Syracuse ARC races, Ted the 5K placing 115 out of 220 men and I ran the Half marathon placing 25 out of 221 women.  We had a great time in Syracuse but the fun didn’t stop on Saturday.  Sunday, after watching Shane try to catch some ducks grazing in the golf course, we went on a 37 mile bike ride to Rome.  Our first stop:  Boulevard Diner in Oriskany for breakfast. The fresh fruit bowl. The tomato and feta Egg Beater omelet with home fries and dry [...]

CNY Tri Club Practice and CEimB Raisin Toast with Honey Walnut Spread

Before getting into the Ellie Krieger recipe of the week, I’ll tell you about the workouts this week that have been different from my usual routine.  It’s good to get out of a comfort zone, right? No matter how difficult or intimidating it is. Monday: This was routine.  Cross Train with the elliptical for 30 minutes. Weight train chest & arms for 25 minutes. Easy run with Shane for just under 4 1/2 miles.  Typical. Tuesday:  This was a bit different.  I ran on the treadmill for speed work, 6 miles.  Worked my legs and stomach in the weight room.  [...]

Friendly Support and A Berry Good Breakfast

Ted and I kicked off the long weekend with a wonderful glass of Kendell-Jackson Chardonnay The wine was given to me, just a couple of weeks ago, by my running friend Jim.  We held the Utica Road Runners membership meeting at my house and Jim said every host gets a bottle of wine.  I was thrilled because, well… you all KNOW how I love my wine! Speaking of Jim, lets all wish him luck as he runs Boston’s Run to Remember this Memorial Day weekend. Good Luck JIM!   - Anyone else running this race? As for earlier this week, we [...]

A Birthday Breakfast and What IS that ingredient?

Yes, another birthday came and went.  Ah!  I feel so good because when I looked in the mirror there wasn’t any wrinkle, any imperfection, any sign of another year gone by that wasn’t there the day before.  Phew! Made it!  I bet I won’t fair so well the day I run Boston.  Probably see someone age 20 years in 3.45 hours ( yes – my goal time). But that’s weeks away yet so moving on… My Birthday Breakfast The day began kind of funny. I got up with the alarm and went through the routine of getting myself into the [...]

Don’t Leave Me

Good walk for my rest day: 3.79 miles and worked up a sweat. I’m looking forward to running tomorrow. Now my story…there’s quite a story to tell but first we’ll begin with the AC Weekday breakfast. 1/3 cup mixture of: Cream of Rye + Steel cut oats Lots of water 1/2 banana, sliced 1 TBS raisins 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1 TBS Naturally More Peanut Butter The fruit was 1/2 a large pink grapefruit.  The protein shake was 1 scoop VPX Zero Carb Chocolate with lots of ice and water (about 12 oz) in my Apple Crumbles mug. That made it [...]
