CNYEats A Taste of Utica Lupini Beans

I couldn’t find lupini beans when I shopped.  I decided to substitute fava beans and lima beans. On page 143 of our book, A Taste of Utica, you’ll find two recipes for preparing lupini beans. Recipe 1:  Posted by Chris – a 5 lb recipe. Soak lupinis overnight in water.  You'll need a 15 qt. kettle.  Add 1/2 cup of salt. Drain and sort lupinis. Rinse and put back into the kettle with water to cover.  Add  1/2 cup more salt and boil for 1 hour.  Turn the heat off. Allow to cool.  Drain. Put the beans back into the [...]

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Looks whose excited about celebrating the patron saint of Ireland..   According to legend, Saint Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish people. On with the recipe for CEimB This week Danica of Danica’s Daily picked a TERRIFIC Ellie Krieger recipe. CEimB: Chocolate Egg Cream

First I have to share what my mother said yesterday when we were discussing our dogs and the visit to South Carolina.  I suggested that in order for Mocha (my mother’s Lowchen) to avoid loneliness when we all go out, we could leave Shane in the room with her.  Mocha weighs all of about 12 lbs while Shane is topping 100, so this was obviously a joke.  We wouldn’t do that to Mocha. My mother then says, and thank goodness she laughed before saying this otherwise I would seriously be worried…..”We’ve found that Mocha is very quiet now when we [...]
