Was it the computer or was it me?

There is not one iota of electronic technical intelligence existing in my brain. This is voluntary. Electronics don't interest me except that I enjoy being able to use them. When there is a problem such as not being able to turn on the television the joy of new technology quickly leaves my body. Just let me get out of my seat, press an "ON" button and turn a darned dial on the TV, opting for one of the 4 available stations instead of hundreds available for viewing nowadays. It's frustrating and confusing. So when our router/modem went south a week [...]

Broken Wrist Phase 2 and Farro Salad with Citrus-Honey Vinaigrette

I call this Phase 2 of the broken wrist saga because now the cast is off, pin and stitches removed after 3 weeks.  Guess I was expecting to have almost normal wrist function but that is far from the case.  There is no flexibility nor strength. I try to bend and turn in all directions throughout the day but I’m not sure how much I should force it.  On a positive note, I was given clearance to run so I've been on the treadmill for the last 4 days.  Starting at 3 miles with a dog walk for 2.25.  The [...]

Avocado Dressed Salad and Marathon Thoughts

It’s those days when I’m in the kitchen just chopping away that the best recipes are created.  On this particular day, I had an avocado to use.  That was the beginning of the following creation. Avocado Dressed Salad I didn’t write down the amount of anything used. I just grabbed, chopped and added to a bowl knowing that a mashed avocado with fresh lime juice would be my dressing.  Here is the best that I can remember and I’m sure that if you modify based on your own likes/dislikes, the result will be just as good. 1 avocado – mashed   [...]

Farro Salad with Wild Blueberries

Farro = Wheat Berries.  Farro is one of the oldest ancient grains originally cultivated in the Middle East.  It’s a good source of protein and fiber but has such a broad variety of uses because it absorbs the flavor of what you cook with it.  From breakfast to dinner, savory or sweet, it’s a healthy option to satisfy kids and adults. This recipe was based on an original Blueberry Farro Salad recipe courtesy of Tom Rocket of Greenfield, Massachusetts. Serves 4 1/2 cup farro, rinsed and cooked as follows:  Add 2 cups water to 1/2 cup farro and boil. Cover [...]
