French Toast

Unmatched and Panettone Fruited French Toast

The back roads were covered in snow and the challenge of running through car tire tracks resulting in uneven, packed, sometimes slushy snow got the better of me.  The Parkway wasn’t safe since the side walks weren’t cleared.  Shane and I were out early trying to cover as many of the 15 scheduled miles as we could.  We eked out 9 miles, and by mile 8 my legs were calling it quits.  We got home, Shane was packed with icy sludge on his belly.  He was cleaned up, my clothes were traded from long winter leggings to shorts, we went [...]

What keeps us going and Banana Stuffed French Toast Bake

We’re all different.  What motivates one person does absolutely nothing for another.  When you do any sport for endurance and you’re out there training for hours at a time alone.  An awful lot of thoughts go through your mind.  Saturday’s run was a long run and it took me a long time. I was in no hurry.  No plans for the day so I could just jog along and put my time on the road.  Those are the runs I like. No time goals. No need to get home to be ready for an appointment or work, just run with [...]

CEimB: PEAR French Toast Bake

First things first.  The real name for this recipe is “Peach French Toast Bake”.  Secondly, this recipe is delicious but is more like bread pudding.    On page 35 of “The Food You Crave” by Ellie Krieger, you can find this recipe or go to The Not So Skinny Kitchen and see what Liz baked up.  Liz chose our recipe this week and she chose a good one. The substitution for the peaches was because we received our Harry and David order Friday and I had 6 lucious pears to eat.  I saved one and used the other five for [...]

Apple and Maple French Toast

This is a healthy twist on French toast. One slice will fill you up and give you plenty of energy and protein to take you to a healthy lunch. We started with a terrific new bread discovered just this week:  Nature’s Pride 100% Natural 12 Grain. It is nutty, soft, and has a balanced flavor so you’re not biting into an overly sweet piece of bread nor are you tasting a bread that is rough and almost tasteless. It’s a bread you can do so much with, from a simple lunch sandwich to the following French toast that is rich [...]
