Spiru-Tein

All By Myself

It's one of those lonely Fridays at work.  Sue has this Friday off and there will be no chit chat.  Ted is making a trip in with Shane, but that will be for about 15 minutes.  Just long enough for Shane to terrorize a few people and leave hair all over the front office.  Speaking of Shane, he and I went on a 4 1/2 mile walk with a little sprint here and there.  It was a nice mild morning and we were up for it.  There were a few people out doing the same as we were.  We were [...]

A Yoga Reminder

The May 2009 issue of Yoga Journal arrived in the mail a few days ago.  Last night, the opportunity was available to read through one of my favorite magazines.  Although there is a yoga room set up downstairs in our home, I can not boast being a faithful Yoga practitioner.  Two years ago, there were serious considerations to begin teaching yoga but then Shane was welcomed into the family and time did not allow the study and out of town practice that would be involved.  Today my yoga practice is, unfortunately,  intermitant.  The point of all this is to share [...]

Gadgets

Some of us are gadget people and others could care less. This blogger is a gadget fanatic.  This is only a few of the items found around this house:  food dehydrator, flat bread maker, regular bread maker, food processor, 4 blenders, coffee press, coffee pots, coffee bean grinder, orange peeler, various style graters, meat thermometers, candy thermometers, funky styled pots and pans that are for all different cooking variations....the list continues.   This morning, while putting in the miles on the tread mill, a commercial appeared advertising some type of egg cooker.  "Ah Ha! I have one of those!"  The egg cooker was [...]

Blueberries and Cream

This morning's Spiru-Tein shake wasn't that bad. Still a little too thick for my taste.  The one positive aspect of this protein shake is that it stays mixed. The others I use, VPX and Jay Robb (my favorites) do not stay mixed.  You see, I blend my shake, take my vitamins and supplements, put the oatmeal on, then run upstairs to get washed up.  By the time I come back downstairs to the kitchen, the VPX and Jay Robb have separated.  That did not happen with the Spiru-Tein.  My fruit this morning was 1/2 a grapefruit. I also had 1/2 of [...]

Grapefruits and Oranges

Hallelujah Harry & David!  My fruit arrived today. Don't you just love fresh fruit? I tried a different type of protein for my afternoon "snack".  It was Spiru-Tein: Unsweetened, Simply Natural Peaches and Cream.  Sounds good doesn't it?  Well it wasn't.  It was thick and chunky.  It wouldn't mix.  I'm not giving up on this brand yet, though.  I have 5 more packets to use, different flavors.  I'm going to try the next one in the blender to see if that makes any difference.  They require some additional sweetener as well. Maybe Stevia?   Dinner Dish by Jo ...that's [...]
