Something to Think About

by Joanne on April 13, 2012

When the going gets tough and I need to redirect my thoughts, as I’m sure will be necessary on Monday from Hopkinton to Boston, I like to focus on future activities.  This is what’s in store for Ted and I after April 16th.

May 6th is the Five Boro Bike Tour.  Ted and I won the lottery for America’s largest cycling event.  It’s a 40 mile, traffic free ride for 32,000 cyclists.  We start at Battery Park in New York City, go through Manhattan, Central Park, the Bronx, down the Queensboro Bridge and pass so many NYC icons on the way.  Did I mention it was 40 MILES?!  For this gal who hasn’t been on her bike in weeks, and for only 10 miles, some serious cycling is in store beginning Tuesday… ok, maybe Wednesday next week.

Beginning May 10th, we attend McMillan Running Camp in Arizona.  I’m so excited about this! Ted, probably not so much.  We have 3 full days of running and lectures about running by the well known Greg McMillan.  PLUS, Flagstaff, Arizona?  Who wouldn’t be excited about that trip.

Again in May, my partner in business and I are attending the Atlantic Design and Manufacturing trade show in Philadelphia.  Ted won’t go to this one but I’ll be going back to Philadelphia for the week to tend our booth and talk manufacturing.  That’s a little more serious than baking, at least for me since the world of manufacturing is my main source of income, not quite as fun however.  But who knows?! We might have a blast, make a lot of business contacts and kick off the introduction of our new product line with a bang.  I’m looking forward to revisiting Philly since last November my focus was on the marathon and not enjoying historic Philadelphia.

As for Ted, he gets busy beginning May 27th with his first triathlon of the year.  Look what he’s set himself up for this summer:

  1. Cooperstown triathlon, 5/27
  2. North Shores swim, 6/2
  3. Green Lakes team Tri, 6/9 (A relay event with his two brothers. This should be fun!)
  4. 2012 Owasco Man triathlon, 6/30
  5. Musselman Tri, 7/14
  6. Delta Lake Tri, 7/29
  7. Pecks Lake, 8/4
  8. Cazenovia Tri, 8/12
  9. Crystal Lake Tri, 8/18

We’ve got a great summer lined up and, come to think of it, it all starts on Monday!

Have you made plans yet for the summer? What do you have going on?

That bike tour likes like fun! Have a great marathon! You know there is a man who has run 43 Boston Marathons from my area?
