Equal Calories and Chickpea Salad with Parsley, Lemon, and Sun-Dried Tomatoes

An email from Fit Day explained that not all calories are created equal even if 200 calories is 200 calories. For example, fiber rich food: fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans all require a lot of chewing. This slows the consumption process down. In addition, healthy fiber rich foods keep you full longer. Protein takes a long time for your body to break down. It also makes you feel full longer which curbs your appetite and stabilizes blood sugar levels. Fats are the necessary evil..oh they really aren’t that evil if you eat the right kind. I Don’t Wanna–Guest Post

Danae Matthews is a 20-something living in San Francisco. She writes for Women’s Health Base, an on-line health resource for women. Everyday Health and Performance

I can’t remember how long ago it was when I received an email asking if I would like a free Calorie Counter.  When I see “free” I never, well almost never, say no.  Everyday Health offered “My Calorie Counter”, a complete nutritional information book on over 8,000 popular brands, food chains, and restaurant menus. I love that site, Everyday Health.  They don’t leave anything out when you are looking for tips, tricks, how-to’s, etc. on quality living for a more productive, healthy lifestyle.  Even the “My Calorie Counter” is as complete as you could hope for regarding nutritional journaling.  I [...]

Running on one foot.  My right foot hurts.  I got up from the table yesterday afternoon and it felt swollen and “round” on the bottom front ball of the foot.  I guess that’s the reason they call it the “ball of the foot” since it might feel “round”  Or….maybe not????  Anyway, it hurts.  Bare feet are my preference but I haven’t been able to go barefoot since the pain kicked in.  Not sure if it will affect the [...]
