You’re Bigger Than That

My Inner World was a site offering self discovery, self help, and motivations. On occasion, I would get an email from MIW called “The Inner View”. It seems odd, but every time I receive these emails, it seems the topic of point was something I needed at the time. Weird. Spooky.  (Unfortunately, My Inner World went off line last September. Hope it comes back up. ) A while ago, the topic was “Do you need someone to talk to?”. The following were some of the points addressed. One of the most valuable of life’s gifts is someone to talk to. [...]

A Trip to Virginia

A mid week trip to Virginia was well worth the drive.  The point of our trip was to watch Teddy graduate as a 2 Lieutenant in the US Marines at Quantico. What a nice little get away.  We stayed in historic Fredericksburg, VA at the Richard Johnston Inn on Caroline Street.  A comfortable room at the very tip – top of the house aka attic. Our room was called “Old Town” We arrived around 3 pm, unpacked, called Teddy who drove to meet us then set out on foot to explore the town. We stopped for refreshments and to catch [...]

Apple Harvest Festival

There are many apple festivals going on around the state right now.  Since Ted and I will be busy this coming weekend, we decided to spend a day in Ithaca last Saturday. It was the 31st edition of the Great Downtown Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival. It was held from Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday Oct. 6. The streets from the 100 W. block of State Street to the Commons east toward Cornell University were full of people, vendors, artists, and game booths for kids.  Even the ugly construction down the middle of the main road didn’t ruin the fun. There [...]

The Old and The New Kitchen

Finally.  I present to you my NEW kitchen! But wait…before I show you Old vs. New, I have to share my first long run of this training season for the fall marathons.  18 miles.  Didn’t think I would make it.  The last 3 days were spent dreading getting up and getting through those 18 long miles.  PLUS, I had a massage for 9:30 am so I had to be on the road by 5:30 at the latest. Shane ran with me for 6 miles.  We got soaked by a 20 minute down pour which included thunder and lightening. I was [...]

Cincinnati Flying Pig–Friday

After a long drive, Ted and I found our hotel in Cincinnati, OH, within one mile of the starting line for the Flying Pig Marathon on Sunday May 5th.   It was a beautiful day that demanded we quickly unpack and set to the streets for some perusing the greater downtown  Cincinnati.  First impression:  This city was so clean!   Not a cup, not a piece of paper, not a pile of dirt in sight.  No rush-rush big city atmosphere.  There was a laid back feeling in the air.   We walked to Fountain Square. Checked out the big screen seen in the [...]
