Portland Oregon Day 2

It’s Friday and another drop dead gorgeous day in Portland.  We took advantage of the beautiful day, got up and got running. While waiting for Ted, I took to the treadmill which had the Oh So NOT Interesting View of the empty pool, and ran 3 miles.  Why run on the treadmill when it was so beautiful outside? Because I had 6 miles to run today, Ted only 3 and there are so many homeless in and around the city, I was too nervous to venture out by myself. Ted was ready and we ran down to the river and [...]

Portland OREGON Day 1

It was a rough start. Up at 3:30 and leaving the house by 4:15 am, thinking we had plenty of time to get our flight in Syracuse.  Not the case.   1. As soon as we left the house, my stomach turned and nausea set in. 2. We got to the airport and I left Ted with all the bags as I made haste to the bathroom. Did I eat something bad?  Was I coming down with the flu?  Oh no… images of our Disney trip wouldn’t leave my mind. 3. We got the the gate just as the airline called [...]

Peanut Butter Treats for Your Pet

I can’t tell you if these finished treats are absolutely delicious or not but based on the reaction from Zoey and Shane I think they were a complete hit! I made these for our road trip to South Carolina. It’s a long day in the car for these two and a snack once in a while is appreciated by both.  For tips and tricks when travelling with your dog, see my latest EXAMINER article. Day 2 in Boston 2014

We woke to a sunny day, 40 degrees, and perfect for a shake out run the day before the race.  From our hotel, we went through Boston Commons To the Charles River It was about a 3 mile easy jog, just enough to see how everything was feeling. On the way back, we took in some historic views After an overly priced breakfast at the hotel, we made tracks to the expo, taking photos along the way. A small memorial where the first bomb blast happened in 2013 The finish line At the expo, it was too crowded to meander [...]

Getting to Boston 2014

The morning started with quite a to do.  What was supposed to be a nice walk to a park with the dogs for Frisbee play ended in Zoey getting covered in burdocks.  That turned an intended quiet morning into one of a hustle and bustle and doggy bathing.  Twenty minutes on the road to Boston I declared my phone charger was at home.  Bought one at a rest stop which was for the iPhone 5 …wrong model, but it seemed to work. 3 1/2 hours later we were in Hopkinton.   We have always exited the Mass Pike for Hopkinton so [...]

New York State Wine Weekend

The perfect weekend spent with my Valentine.  We went for an overnight stay at Geneva On The Lake. This beautiful Inn sits on the shore of Seneca Lake, just a few miles down from the first New York State winery on the Seneca Lake Wine trail from the West. We stopped at only a few wineries Saturday afternoon It was warm but no fire The temperatures were in the low 30’s, sun shining which made for a nice drive and no need for heavy coats while going from car to tasting room. Belhurst Castle offered delicious tastings of chocolate at [...]
