Another long road trip. It rained all day. The traffic was thick and slow. We saw more accidents and more traffic jams, complete stop traffic jams, than ever before. It was a long, very long day.
Weak, horrible coffee to start our day.
Even though the weather didn’t improve, the coffee did
Then there was breakfast. We haven’t experienced a Subway breakfast since they began serving it, I don’t know how long ago. We’ve typically settled for a Dunkin Donuts flat bread egg white sandwich. DD does not compare with our take-out from Subway. The eggs were fresh, the baby spinach was so fresh, it was as if they had just pulled it from the garden. Ted added some sliced pepperoncini to our sammys and WOW! The flavor!
It was the best meal of the day! Of course that could be that we waited until 11 am to eat real food, heading out a 5:30 am, snacking on fruit and pieces of stale bagel, set the stage for most anything being better. But I think the Subway breakfast would have pleased us know matter what. It was really fresh, whole and good.
As for the rest of the trip, tiring. Ted did the driving while some passengers took it easy, falling asleep on brother’s leg.
Only to wake up with pillow do!
And now we wait to complete the adventure. We’ll hope for more weather like this
but we know it’s not going to happen unless we turn right around and head back to where we came from. We’ll get our snow shoes on, gloves, hats, scarves and get ready to face real winter in Utica.
Hope you have sun and warmth tomorrow.
You have the right mindset about this arduous road trip! I had breakfast from a Subway for the first time last week, and it was surprisingly tasty and relatively healthy. Enjoy the rest of your holidays!
