I’m still taking it easy with low miles until Saturday, giving my body plenty of rest and recovery from the marathon. Along with the weight lifting workouts, with heavier weights, I incorporated 3 miles of easy running both Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday, I just couldn’t bring myself to do anything but eat like a horse. No idea why all of a sudden my body said “FOOD! GIVE ME FOOD!”.
Thursday was a GREAT day for my first speed workout. It was super stormy so the outside run was a no-go. I did manage 6 quality miles on the treadmill and a great weight workout. The run included 4 miles at tempo. I ran 1 mile warm up and 1 mile cool down in my Vibram Five Fingers. I figure the treadmill runs will allow me to get used to the Vibrams without injury. Can’t say I was thrilled with the lack of “spring” that a regular running shoe offers but the free movement factor was a definite plus. I’m looking forward to doing more miles and finally getting outside with them once the weather warms up AND dries up!
Morning walks – the meditative me….
Walk With Me by Munda
Walk with me, the path of life, to explore every bend of the road
Enjoy with me the beauty of life, along its wonderful way
Find comfort with me, in each other’s arms, when grief crosses our path
Find strength with me, in each other’s strength, when despair lies in wait
Laugh with me, a single true laugh, to enlighten another’s distress
Cry with me, a single true tear, to understand true happiness
Cherish with me, the wonders of life, as they need to be preserved
Rejoice with me, in the mysteries, of what is yet to be
Find peace with me, in each other’s souls, when the world has gone insane
Find love with me, in each other’s hearts, until this life has been fulfilled
And when the path comes to an end, I hope we can say from within
We’ve known the beauty of true love, our love came from within
Photos taken during an early morning walk. The photos aren’t edited. It is what it is, not always pretty, but safe, quiet, and our home town.
Where is your favorite place to walk or run where you live?
Barnes and Noble. Who doesn’t enjoy a good book?!
I know where that house with the carousel horse is! I helped the lady catch a feral cat in her yard and brought it to Paris Hill Cat Clinic to be neutered.
If you know the lady, I’d love to get in touch with her and ask if I can buy that carousel!
We walk around our city so that we can stay close to the streets with garbage cans (since we have the pup with us!). But I love our quaint little city, so it makes me happy. 🙂
What a lovely area!
I really, really love our bike paths. It is so nice to not have to worry about much traffic when on them.
We just received a terrific reference of all bike paths in our area. Can’t wait to get on them.
What cool running shoes. Happily we are surrounded by a bunch of state parks and trails which give us some great walking/run options. So much nature. 😉
Great pics!
That WTC dedication looks very impressive, I didn’t think you lived in NYC so it must be outside the city?
Utica
It would be great to know if there is a story behind that carousel, I bet there is!
