It is official Boston 2020 CANCELLED

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the Boston Marathon to be cancelled. Years of collecting It's been difficult staying motivated to train for any length run since no race is happening.  Sure, there are the virtual races but being that I don't enjoy racing to begin with, there's no reason to sign up for a race and run by myself.  I mean... why?!  I still engage the help of a trainer in hopes to better my performance at different distances once REAL racing begins again.  This holds me accountable.  Typically, I'm running 6 days a week with 2 harder [...]

Bouchon Bakery: Florentines

We had a good week of running. The weather was up and down and certainly colder but the miles were logged and the legs sure felt tired by Sunday.  Shane and Zoey helped me pack on the miles and each did their long run of 7 miles Sunday morning, helping me complete 14 miles for the long haul this weekend. Shane is my easy lopper.  Zoey is my speed demon.  I’ve tried so many collars, harnesses and other tricks to slow her down but she wants to be in the front.  This week my poor little Zoey took a beating.  [...]

Run or Not to Run and Bouchon TKOs

Do what I say not what I do… right?!   Why is it that most of us are just not that good at coaching ourselves?  Could it be that we under estimate our aches and pains? Maybe we think we are invincible: never been injured, never will be.   I’m not sure but I do know that when I have some pain, I ignore it.  Shame on me. Here is my excuse which Ted pretty much nailed the other morning when he said…”When I hurt myself I know it. I can’t run. When you get hurt, it’s never that clear cut.”   [...]

Bouchon Shortbread

Rich, buttery and simple.  That is classic shortbread resulting from a Bouchon Bakery cook book recipe. My kind of cookie. You can leave it simple by just sprinkling sugar on top before baking or you might frost it for that holiday feeling. Either way, it’s a good tasting, easy to bake treat.  Makes 24.  *There will be slight changes to the recipe below from the one out of Bouchon Bakery cook book. My blog, my recipe. 6. 3 oz unsalted butter at room temperature 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 cup all purpose flour [...]

Bouchon: Nutter Butters

Training has begun.  Training for the 2014 Boston Marathon.  I’m not ready. I have been enjoying the extra sleep, the slow and easy runs for how ever many miles my legs feel like going.  Now miles and minutes will be written down, reviewed, progress noted, and every day counted. Let battle commence! But first, fill up on Nutter Butters! Who doesn’t like those peanut butter cookies shaped like a peanut?  If you love peanut butter, you just adore those cookies.  Now you can make them even better because Bouchon has a recipe on page 36 that is just amazing.  The [...]

Bouchon: Chocolate Chunk Chip Cookies

Don’t you love it when you receive a package, a gift from friend or family for Christmas and it says “Open Immediately!”   No waiting until Christmas eve or Morning, when ever your tradition dictates opening gifts …or…well, whenever Santa drops them off… We received such a package this past week.  It was sent from Harry & David and YES – it WAS fresh fruit. So delicious!  Just look at these pears! I said to Ted “Please don’t take them out of the box until I take a photo”   He was ok with that but couldn’t take his eyes off the [...]
