Life After Boston and FOFF Spicy Sweet Potato Fries

The ups and downs after finishing a marathon. The feelings of elation because you crossed the finish line, the regret that you didn’t push harder. Then your mum and dad send you a gorgeous array of red roses and everything feels better. What is it about a rose? My favorite flower. Just perfect. Life after Boston should be time spent allowing your body to recover. In my case, there was little soreness which made it easy to jump right on my bike and begin getting ready for the NYC Bike Ride. The ride is 40 miles around the boroughs of [...]

A Restaurant Review and the BOILERMAKER

First of all, I have to wonder why squirrels are so comfortable near our house. Just hanging out, dangling a foot, checkin’ out the scenery. The next day…. He’s back again!  Letting it all just hang.  He (could be a she?) lounges on a different railing, completely relaxed without a care in the world.  *The blur:  I took the pic from the window that Shane happens to watch out of as well – nose pushed up against the glass as you might have guessed. Must be nice to be a squirrel and live around our house  “relaxed, carefree living”.   Crystal [...]

My body didn’t want to run today even though my mind kept telling it there was only a few miles to go.  The mental urging won over the lazy legs. “It’s a total rest day tomorrow. No running tomorrow. Day off tomorrow” [...]

Hip Hip Pooh Ray for STEF!

Stefanie’s Baby Shower Cake! But first….. The Looonnngggg run This morning I got an early start because I wanted Shane to come with me for part of my long run.  It was cooler this morning so Shane had an easier run.  We did 7.13 miles then I continued on for another 7.87 miles.  Total 15 miles today. 46.85 total miles this week. I had a banana with 1 TBS PB to fuel the run.  I took water with me plus some Sports Beans which I didn’t end up eating. It wasn’t warm enough and my sweating was only minimal. From [...]

A little bit SPICY

This week there are items to see to that no longer will tolerate procrastination.  That’s my excuse for being a little lax in blogging.  Priorities first. Time to workout My workouts are a little different this week.  I’m getting up about 30 minutes later, getting right into weights then heading out for a road run.  This is the recap so far: Sunday:  a good 6.72 miles on the treadmill. Monday: 8 x 400’s which resulted in 6 miles plus a quick leg workout and a swim. Tuesday: chest and biceps followed by a 6 mile easy run. Wednesday:  Shoulders and [...]
