What about some “Oat” variety? Well I sometimes indulge in Bob’s Red Mill 5 Grain Hot Cereal with Flax. It’s a good hearty way to start the day:
1/3 cup dry cereal
2/3 cup water
1/2 tsp Apple Pie Spice (or cinnamon)
1 TBS canned Pumpkin (NOT pie filling)
Now… if you need sweetness, add 1 tsp maple syrup, or honey, or a packet of stevia. I chopped some apple and added it to my hot cereal. Sometimes I will add 1 TBS raisins.
Remember .. this is your carbohydrate. So don’t forget protein for breakfast. Add a protein shake or some soy milk and expect to be totally satisfied for all or at least most of your morning.
