This is a half and half cake. One side is yellow cake with strawberries and vanilla pudding filling and the other side is chocolate cake with raspberries and vanilla pudding filling. The frosting is a sturdy buttercream because graduation parties are typically held outside and the cake may be exposed to a little summer heat.
Congratulations Michael. You made the grade!
This morning’s activities included a 4 mile walk/jog with Shane. We saw a few people truckin’ along, but not as many people out there as usual. Surprising because it’s a nice mild morning.
The excitement happened at home as I sat here uploading the photos, I heard banging outside. It was the guys doing the stampcrete job. Not a problem right? Wrong! After Shane and I returned from our walk, I tossed my clothes into the wash. I had to get on my hands and knees and make a bee line from the kitchen through the dining area (with a HUGE window I might add) and to the stairs. Embarrassing but I don’t think anyone looked up. Ted said that wasn’t as bad as when I got on the roof, outside our bedroom to clear the sticks off and I was only in my undies. Hey! It was the back of the house and the only neighbor who would possibly see me was a doctor. Nothing the Doc hadn’t seen before I’m sure. Well … the woman on the roof in her underwear might be new but….you know what I mean.
This mornings healthy eats: 1/3 cup Cream of Rye + 1 TBS Coconut + 1 TBS Buckwheat Groats + 1 TBS Maple Sugar Quick oats, some raisins and pineapple banana Gallop-a-loozas. 1/2 an Orange. Protein shake with vanilla VPX + 1/4 cup raspberries and 3 strawberries.
It’s Friday and you deserve to have a good one. Enjoy!

Fabulous job making that Spartan!!
Looks like a cake fit for a king, and a crazy story about the sticks on the roof. Happy Friday!
Wow, it looks great! I’d love to hear about how you got started with your baking business… have you written about it somewhere?
Joanne the cake was a huge success. Everyone not only loved looking at it, but it was completely gone! I was lucky to get the little bite that I did. It was so beautiful and Michael was so proud. You helped make his day a truly special one. Thanks again!
Joanne, you’ve done it again. There are plenty of people making cakes for folks today, but I’ve never seen any turn out as pretty as yours. The Spartan looked terrific, and I also love the way the lemon cake turned out…just beautiful!
