A simple, sophisticated side dish. If you’re getting tired of routine steamed broccoli, you’ll want to give this healthy side a try. Lots of flavor, easy to prepare.
- 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets with stems
- 2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. fresh ground pepper
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- juice from 1/2 a small lemon
Preheat oven to 400 F.
Steam broccoli in a microwave safe dish for 4 minutes.
In a large bowl, toss the broccoli with the oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. Spread evenly in a baking dish.
Bake for 12 minutes. Remove to a serving platter and squeeze the lemon over the top of the broccoli.
Toss and serve.
DELISH – DISH!
What other ways do you prepare broccoli that’s a family favorite?
I *love* broccoli! It’s my favorite veggie and I eat it almost every day. I like it simple. I pan saute florets in coconut oil, salt and pepper. It gets just a bit of brown crispiness on the edges. Yum!
What a coincidence! We both posted lemon-y recipes today 🙂
I have no idea how to steam in a microwave safe bowl. Just microwave it? I use my steamer which is huge, clunky, and a pain to get out of the cupboard. I have ALL of these ingredients right now so I am excited to try it.
Broccoli is one of my favorite side meals because of its healthy benefits. Broccoli is high in fiber, which aids in digestion, prevents constipation, maintains low blood sugar, and curbs overeating. Furthermore, a cup of broccoli has as much protein as a cup of rice or corn with half the calories. And I don’t have to tell about its VitaminC content…
Wasn’t this delicious? I loved it!!!
I have a similar recipe using lime juice instead of lemon. It’s Heman’s favorite way to eat broccoli! Come to think of it, it’s the only way he will eat broccoli 🙂
I cook mine on top of the stove, I will try it in the oven next time.
This looks really delicious! I’m going to try this! Thank you for sharing!
