If you remember back to last summer, I posted Regina’s Sesame cookies from the book A Taste of Utica.
Today, we have Mella’s Grandson’s recipe for Sesame Cookies, on page 162 of our book
There is another recipe on page 163 posted by Carm Guarnieri which is very much the same.
The only change I made to this cookie was to replace the vanilla extract with Cocoa Bean Extract from NuNaturals. What a good move on my part. Loved these cookies!
*The recipe below is 1/2 the recipe from the book which resulted in 2 doz. cookies
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 TBS orange juice
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp Cocoa Bean Extract OR use 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- *You need 1 egg plus 2 TBS milk for coating outside.
- *You need sesame seeds also to coat the outside.
Preheat oven to 350 F. Line baking sheets with parchment or non stick foil.
Mix all the above ingredients then turn out on a lightly floured surface and roll into a large log. Cut off 2” slices. Roll each slice into 1 beaten egg with 2 TBS milk then dip into sesame seeds.
Bake for 18 –20 minutes.
Just perfect for afternoon tea.
