Pizza Party: Caramelized Red Onion, Pear, Gorgonzola Pizza

Better get into the gym and beef up for all the action coming this Sunday in the Super Bowl. Personally, I’m not into either of the teams but will most likely look forward to watching for the best advertisement.  Anyway – beefing up…there’s no beef in this post just a delicious vegetarian (if you eat cheese) friendly pizza. I get so excited when my National Culinary Review comes in the mail.  The most delicious, unique recipes are offered on select pages from the worlds most talented chefs.  This January 2013 issue out did itself with party pizza recipes.  I’m going [...]

Take Time Off and Smoked Salmon Pizza

I took it easy this past weekend.  I ran 3.3 miles on Saturday and 6 on Sunday.  My legs are not quite back to where I need them to be for good training runs.  I’ll continue with just a few easy days of running until the tightness goes away. It’s tough to decide how to train for the Goofy Challenge in January.  I’ll be running the Disney half marathon on Saturday with Ted so it won’t be a serious run and I expect we’ll be walking and taking our time.  Sunday is the full marathon but, again, I’m not trying [...]

FOFF French Quarter Inspired Arugula Pizza

I’m trying to get back into this exercise thing but it’s tough.  Maybe it’s the stuffy nose, lingering headache and general feeling BLAH that’s snuffing out my motivation.  So far this week I’ve done two total body weight workout sessions, two 30 minute elliptical sessions with 18 to 20 minutes on the bike after each session.  I’ve run 6.23 miles and my breathing was labored.  It’s not usual for me to have colds lasting longer than 2 or 3 days.  In hopes of shaking it off, I slept in and will take a break from exercise.  Hopefully tomorrow will bring [...]

FOFF: Strike it Rich Steak Pizza

I went to see the eye doc this week. As I sat in the office, the only one there, I  wondered why, when my appointment was scheduled for  9:15 am and it was now 9:40, had no doctor nor assistant seen me.  Paperwork was completed.  They had in fact told me TWICE “we’ll see in you in a minute” .  As I stared  as the wall, listening to music playing loudly from the Christian music station, with a lot of static, I came to the decision that I much prefer going for a mammogram rather than sitting in that office [...]

CNYEats A Taste of Utica Pasta Primavera (Fat Free)

If you have been following along, you probably thought I should be making “My Mama’s (God Rest Her Soul) Tomato Pie”, but that was posted in March. *Click on the link to see that terrific recipe. Wouldn’t want you to miss out! THIS WEEK, we have just as good, Fat Free (if you don’t count the cheese) Pasta Primavera by Mario Scalzo Jr.  Page 134 of our book To be honest, I think a little bit of olive oil would do this recipe good AND that little bit of healthy oil would help deliver all the nutrients held in those [...]
