Half Marathon

Turning Stone Half Marathon 2011

The first running of the Turning Stone Half Marathon.  Great turnout and great organization.  Packet pick up was very easy since Ted and I went to the Expo on Friday and ran the 5K for fun.  We beat the crowd. Great swag:  A nice technical t-shirt.  Mini Clif bars.  Mini Larabar.  Bags of Sweet Potato chips. GU chomps (in Blueberry Pomegranate-FAVE!). VitaFusion Fiber Gummies for weight management (not sure when I’ll need those but I’ll eat them anyway ).  Natural Vitality an anti-stress drink (I’ll need that this week as we go through a costing audit at work – AH!). Delta Lake Half Marathon

Pre Race: There was so much to think about unrelated to running the days before this half marathon.  It wasn’t until Saturday night that it began to hit me, I had a race to run.  The clothes were set on the bathroom floor (because that’s where I put my workout clothes for the following day). I never claimed to be a neat freak.  The running skirt, the sports bra, the short sleeve shirt with a back pocket (hope it’s not too cold for that shirt), Injinji socks and plain old undies (no thong when running), all clumped in a pile [...]

The Second “Half”

My second half marathon.  Training is 90% physical and 10% mental UNTIL race day. I was thinking that would be boring but anytime I run outside and it’s a new route, I don’t find it boring. I was up at 5 am.  The half was to start at 8 am.  I ate a banana with 1 TBS peanut [...]

It was a first

My first half marathon.  The conclusion = Joanne is a lazy runner, explained at the end of the post. Last night, I was thinking what a fool I am, almost ruining my first half.  You see, I brought my new bike home and couldn’t leave it alone.  Don’t I fall off it?  It’s my first bike with the clip in shoe-to-pedal configuration and when I put my left shoe down, it went right out from under me.  However, a bruised hand doesn’t stop one from running, right?  Could have been worse.  Marathon morning: Up at 5:15, had some water and [...]
