After an upsetting last long run before the Disney Goofy Challenge, I decided to make myself feel better by delving head first into some good, healthy carbohydrates. Why? Because running 12 miles on the treadmill, 4 miles outside, wind blasting on snow covered roads with a calf that begins to seize up and finishing with 30 tedious minutes on the elliptical deserves major carbohydrate overload.
I had a good 20 miler, slow but felt great, when we were in South Carolina but since we’ve been back in New York, the weather has made running a challenge. I think the snowy surface wrecked my calf…temporarily. I’m toying with doing another 18 next weekend instead of 14 but on the other hand, keep trying to remind myself that I’m going to Disney for fun, not a time motivated marathon, just fun. The real work begins in February when I want to excel at Boston in 2013. Why burn out before the hard work begins? It’s a tough pill to swallow but I’m trying, trying to let go of my competitive nature and enjoy the run.
I rewarded my effort with Rudi’s Gluten Free Bread. Here’s the review.
Remember when I was oohing and ahing about Rudi’s Gluten Free Tortillas? Well now I’m doing the same thing again about their sandwich bread.
Three varieties and each one delicious. All natural ingredients, firm yet moist, and good flavor. The nutrition facts are very much the same with all three varieties, cinnamon raisin with 100 calories per slice.
The package offers the best and most honest description:
I’ve been inspired to get back to Gluten Free baking and diet preferences since my nephew bought me a wonderful baking book for Christmas.
I can’t WAIT to begin going through this book, one recipe at a time, once I’ve finished Fusion of Food and Friends and A Taste of Utica.
In the meantime, I’ve made the best of the Rudi’s bread by indulging in a tea time snack of organic nut butter on Rudi’s Multigrain Sandwich Bread.
A simple pre run carbohydrate booster of Rudi’s Gluten Free Cinnamon Raisin Bread
That bread is LOADED with raisins! Sweet, soft, over flowing with spicy cinnamon flavor and it SMELLS SO GOOD when toasted!
Finally, as a quick fix sandwich, the plain Gluten Free bread (by plain I don’t mean flavor because it’s robust, bordering on sweet, with a good crumb) was just the right lunch time meal with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pepper jack cheese.
Yes, I like bread. Yes, I’m picky about my bread. When I say Rudi’s is pretty darned good, you can believe it’s P R E T T Y D A R N E D good.
I feel better already. If it wasn’t for my bad calf, I’d go out and try for another 16 miler…kidding
Do you eat Gluten Free products?
Have you seen Rudi’s in your Grocery Freezer Section? If so, ever tried it?
We have Rudi’s here but it’s pricey and because there are so many gf breads and many have horrible reviews, I never knew which to buy. Glad to have the review because I’ll have to try those!
