Wine Glass Marathon

My First Marathon: The Wine Glass

It only happens once, that first marathon.  Now, I call myself a runner. The Wine Glass Marathon, October 3, 2010.  The course: The Marathon starts at Philips Lighting in Bath, NY and finishes at Centerway Square in historic Corning, New York. The weather:  It was 40 degrees when the gun went off and expected to approach 59 degrees as the day’s high.  The sun smiled on us a few times during the course of the run. First, The day before, Saturday Events:  We left for Corning at 9:20 am, leaving with family (Sue and Sam) and friends (Nancy and Bob). [...]

Whiner and Vegetable Ensemble over Portabella Caps

All the weight workouts are completed this week.  Sunday night was legs.  Monday back and shoulders, and Tuesday was chest and arms.  All weight and cable workouts took about 40 minutes. If you do any strength workouts, do you prefer bars, dumbbells, or cable machines?  I like the cable machine the best but to get a well rounded workout, I use everything.  Wednesday running day:  Ran with Jenn and John today.  The plan was to run a fast 5 or 6 with the two J’s and keep the miles in the teens for the long haul.  I’m still shooting for [...]

Rosemary Mustard Grilled Halibut and Strength Exercise

Running This week in review:  Good runs this week mile wise but energy wise, not so great. I did have some thoughts regarding running 26.2 miles. Sue makes a meal with All-Bran

Starting the day without a plan. Got up then went back to bed until 5:10.  At 5:30, Shane and I went for a 3.11 mile run.  Since I was back early enough, the gym was “calling” for a quick leg workout.  It was 20 minutes of presses, deadlifts, curls, extensions, seated calf raises, and ball-wall squats.  Quick and effective.  In case you’re wondering whether I’m sore from my 16 miles yesterday,  the answer is not really.  Everything loosened up once I got going on the road.  I took it slow and decided if it felt good…do it!  I think the [...]
