A Vigorous Leg Workout

What a storm last night! I woke up to the sound of rain falling in buckets.  My thoughts were "it can't possibly rain like this when Shane and I go outside".  Not sure what time the rain was falling so heavily but when I woke up to work out, it had subsided.  When Shane and I left the house, it wasn't raining.  I took my hat just in case and by the time we got home, about 40 minutes later, it was raining again.  When Ted went out side, 5 minutes after our return home, it began chucking it down.  [...]

Rye Friday

Trying to sleep in on a no workout day, such as Friday used to be so enjoyable well over a year ago when the house didn't own a German Shepherd.  Now it's quite a challenge.  It's okay as long as both Ted and myself are still in bed.  But if one of us gets up, Shane and his herding instincts kick in.  As long as everyone remains in the bedroom, it's okay.  If anyone decides to go downstairs, the "herd" is in disarray and something must be done.  Nipping is the usual way the dog gets his group back together, [...]

The Routine

It's Monday and back to the weekday routine.  Ted arrived home safely and full of weekend tales of "Men on Golf Outing Without Women".  Based on most of the details, women wouldn't have wanted to be present.  There was an unfortunate 12 year old boy that was the only other member attending the golf school over the weekend.  He was either entertained by the older 4-some or went home to tell his parents never to do that to him again.  Poor kid. As  I said, it's back to the routine which began at 4AM. It was a touch-and-go situation because in [...]

Wow! Papaya

What can be said? Fresh, fruity, juicy, bursting with flavor... this is one super fruit.  Have you tried fresh papaya?  What kind of recipes have you made with it?  The papaya really made the rest of this mornings eats play second string... a bowl of Cream of Rye mixed with a little 10 Grain cereal, 1/4 of a banana, cinnamon and Papaya on the side. A chocolate VPX shake with 1/4 of a banana. But....WOW! the papaya. To get moving this morning, it was 20 minutes between the Elliptical and the Treadmill. 30 minutes of shoulders and abs. A 4.15 mile [...]

A day of rest

Update:  So Good Blog has a GREAT granola promo... check it out! Do you think you sound like yourself on an answering machine?  A couple of days ago, Ted said there was a cake order on the answering machine. Pressing the message button, a voice began talking and my initial reaction was "its Stef!" Stefanie is my niece.  Then, hearing the message content, it dawned on me, the message was the one I left earlier in the day for Ted. Wow! That REALLY didn't sound like me.  I said to Ted:  "THAT doesn't sound like me... Does THAT sound like [...]

A Beautiful Morning Sky

What a gorgeous sky this morning.  Unfortunately no picture.  The color was a morning blue with wisps of clouds here and there. There was a long line of clouds over the horizon where the shades of pink were feathered into the white. What is that saying?  "Red sky at night, Sailors delight. Red sky in the morning, Sailors take warning".  Is that really true? Shane and I went for a 3.42 mile run.  Skipped the workout again thinking I may take advantage of the nice weather and go for a run after work followed by a lower body workout.  I'm not sure that [...]
