Duathlon Day

The day began with 1/2 a banana and peanut butter to energize our walk around Valley View Golf Course. The three of us went for a 4 miler to stretch our legs and warm ourselves up. There was some play time.. When we got back home, it was a carbohydrate loaded breakfast to fuel the Dualthon which was to begin at 1PM. I had to have my coffee A beautiful bowl of Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Steel Cut oats (1/4 c dry) with raisins and peanut butter and 1/2 a banana all cooked into the oats for 20 minutes.  [...]

A Walk Around Valley View

Sunday's are our usual days for a group walk. By group, that would be Ted, Shane and myself.  It is typically a walk of 4 or more miles which will take us to the more scenic areas of Utica, whether we go right or left or straight from our home.  One of our favorite walks is around Valley View Golf Course.  Once there, we have the option of extending the distance and going through the Switchbacks (a very wooded area made walker/rider friendly by stone-dirt roads) or going up to the Eagle (the upper most point over looking Greater Utica).  [...]

Saturday Evening "Blues"

       We went to see John Hammond at Munson Williams and it was very enjoyable.  He was fascinating to watch with all the facial expressions while playing the harmonica, constantly beating his foot on the stage, and singin' the blues ... what a talent.  It''s a shame we were too far away for good pics, but I did get a pic of the opening act who was a local gent, "Midnight Mike".  The pic of John Hammond was before he began playing as we were asked to not take any  pics. during the act.
