Back to Reality

Vacations end. Places that allow your body to relax and unwind have to be left behind. The fun things you see and do will have to wait until next time. The Race The workouts The critters The beautiful backyard sanctuary my father has created and tends to daily. We had a great time and it’s tough to leave but there are those we love and miss at home. Zoey was happy to be back home to terrorize Shane and get her weekday playmate back. What do you love most about vacations? What do you miss the most about being away?

The Parker House San Francisco

We did get to San Francisco but not without incident.  Our first flight was delayed 1 1/2 hours. Our second flight was delayed 1 hour due to airplane lavatory failure (we’re kind of glad they fixed that before leaving for a 4 hour flight).  When we arrived at San Francisco, the airplane gate operator could not be found and we spent another 25 minutes locked in a plane that just kept getting hotter.  But we made it and enjoyed a nice meal of Thai cuisine our first night in the fog city. I was so hungry and tired, photos were [...]

Having Fun in Naples

On Saturday, we found out there was going to be a 5K race called Tropicool 5K.  It was about 2 miles from the resort to the starting line.  Sign up was from 6:30 and the race was to go off at 7:30 (although one site said 8 am).  I was beginning to get excited about it and thought of racing but told Ted I’d see if I woke up early enough and if I was in a race-ready mood in the morning.  Sunday morning I woke up at 5:30 am, plenty of time to get ready for the race but [...]

Naples Florida Chillin’ on Saturday

Vacations can be so exhausting.  We HAD to sleep in until 7 am but never got around to getting to the store yesterday.  In order to fuel the morning exercise, we made do with a few scraps left from home.  We went on a 5 mile easy run around 5th Street and then some.  It was hot.  Ted was sweating bullets and I was hot but not sweating profusely.  My body just doesn’t like to shed a lot of water.  But then again, it started raining for the last mile which was a complete blessing.  The rain felt good on [...]

New York to Naples

A long flight We read the magazines and the book wasn’t holding my interest.  We decided to play some “challenging” games to pass the time Land HO! Finally. Finding the Cabana Bar, a toast to vacations and lunch. Oh look!  It’s SHANE’S place. We found the beach Who can swim the fastest in the lap pool (one of 3 pools on the resort). By the way, you’re NOT looking at the winner. A warm water massage and something cool to enjoy These feet were made for walking From the beautiful Naples Bay Resort to a fun spot for dinner.  The [...]

A Wedding in Delray

What a great mini vacation in Florida.  The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the company of family for three days.  Fabulous food. Fun night life.  We were able to exercise every morning.  The hotel had a fabulous gym and the area was made for running.  I was on my favorite brand of treadmill (PreCor) every morning.  When we were done in the gym, we went outside for some heated workouts.  Ted has started running again.  He’s not too enthusiastic and we took it slow, coupling running with walking for a total of 4.8 miles.   I was able to run [...]
