Chocolate Banana Coconut Pound Cake

It’s almost here. The big day. The day that has forced us out of bed before 5 am over the last 3 months.  That day is… The 32nd Annual Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon – Saturday, June 28, 2014 This is a great race for beginners or to use as a final tune-up before Lake Placid Ironman!  Come see why the Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon is one of the longest running Tinman triathlons in the United States. Swim: 1.2 mile / Bike: 56 mile / Run: 13.1 mile Ted is ready. He’s excited and nervous.  Although he won’t admit to either [...]

Cooperstown Triathlon 2014

The first swim – bike – run event of the year for Ted and he had such an enjoyable day, It started off a bit cool for a swim, 50 degrees with water at 57 degrees. Above: The fog lifting over the lake as athletes set up in transition. Getting the body acclimated to the cold water with a pre-race swim. Even though the water was cold, there were many happy faces. These folk wanted to swim no matter what.  They wanted a complete sprint triathlon with a 700 meter swim (shorted 100 meters due to water temp), 12 mile [...]

Hall of Fame Half Marathon Weekend

It all started in Cooperstown.  The focus for Saturday was Ted’s Tri Spring next Sunday, May 29th.  Wait! Back track…we had to stop at the National Running Hall of Fame to pick up race packets for Sunday. Nutrilite had a table set up with some interesting products.  I didn’t sample anything since I won’t try new foods/drinks a day before a race. But I did peruse the labels and will certainly look into this fuel line in the near future. We were all signed up with race numbers and shirts for Sunday.  Now it was off to Cooperstown for a [...]

The Plans and Braised Leek with Green Peppers and Oranges

The workout plan for the week has gone fairly well, except for the Tuesday glitch but those things happen especially the week after a wonderful vacation. So I never got my bike ride in but I did manage the 45 min. of Elliptical.  This is how it went. Wednesday was my mid week dedicated running day. Not too long, mileage wise since the half marathon is on Sunday. I ran just about 8 miles Thursday was a cross training day but the dog has to get in some exercise so after 45 min. on the elliptical, and 20 minutes of [...]

A Real BRICK and Crab Louie

Ted did his first BRICK workout on Sunday.  He’s practicing for the Triathlon on May 29th in Cooperstown, NY.  What a guy!  He swam, he cycled, he ran…phew! I thought running was tough!  I was going to do all that with him but, seriously, my swimming has been on and off (mostly off), I haven’t cycled all winter, the only thing I’m good for is a run.  Since I ran 10 miles Saturday, I wasn’t even good for that on Sunday.  Apart from going to the pool with him for a 23 minute swim, Ted was on his own. The [...]

Lake Delta Triathlon and Favorite Oatmeal Cookies

Sunday was the Lake Delta Triathlon.  Both Ted and I had our first experience as part of a relay team in this fun event.  Our swimmer was Tracy out of Syracuse – yay Tracy!  WOW that gal can swim!  Recap:   Shane and I went for a 2 mile run at 5 am.  It was just beginning to sprinkle.  Ted and I packed our rain gear.  We left the house at 6:20 and made it to Delta Lake Park  by 7 am.  There was already a lot of activity. Richard met us at the event. He was there to help if [...]
