CNYEats A Taste of Utica Pasta a La Mario

Our recipe this week is another terrific pasta recipe. It ranks as number one for me. It’s a dish where you can taste the pasta and it’s not hidden underneath loads of sauce.  The sauce is light and fresh and completely natural in every way. Page 131 details the recipe posted by none other than Mario! The “Lemonade Man” was my grandfather (and Joe Mezz’s *Joe is one of the author’s of “A Taste of Utica” ).  He was Mike Mezzanini who had the forethought to buy a truck and put some freezers on it and sell homemade lemonade from [...]

CNYEats A Taste of Utica Stuffed Peppers

On page 125 of our book is the recipe for Stuffed Peppers using tomato soup.  You might use green or you might prefer red bell peppers, either one will work in this recipe. Posted by Jo Giacovelli 6 large bell peppers, washed, [...]

CNYEats A Taste of Utica Nona Rose’s Chicken

Rosa Giacovelli was my husband’s grandmother.  She came from Italy when she was just 16 years old travelling alone and hoping her brother would be on the shores of this place called New york to greet her – he was.  She was from Bari, Arturo Bello and was a great cook.  This is her recipe for chicken in the oven.  Now, remember, she really had no recipes – they were all in her head so everything here is a guesstimate! Everything can be increased/decreased to your liking. On page 85 of the book A Taste of Utica, is the recipe [...]
