Summer Slumped and Smoked Salmon Cabbage Salad

The last 3 weeks have been tough especially when it comes to speed work.  I’ve been in the mood to run and workout but the preference has been easy workouts.  My speed work has suffered and my weight workouts have been light and short. There is a point when we push and push and push.  Eventually, our bodies rebel.  We need to give ourselves a well deserved break.   I’m not sure if this is a good time or a bad time to give myself a break, being about 8 weeks from my first Fall marathon, but I’m tired, lacking motivation, [...]

Spring? and Cauliflower and Whole Wheat Couscous Salad

Spring has taken on a new look.  It’s white without a tulip or daffodil bud in sight. Guess who doesn’t care?  Here’s a hint: Good for playing “catch me if you can” Good for “Frisbee?!” Good for “Can I jump that snow drift? It’s kinda high?” They might like the continuing snow, wind, and cold but I sure don’t. Good thing I took today off from running.  It’s the Syracuse Half Marathon tomorrow and I didn’t really cut down on my runs this week so I’m taking the day off before the race.  Not sure how the race will go [...]

FOFF Antipasto Pasta Salad

This week is the 2nd week of tapering for the Boston Marathon.   Mileage has been cut back to about half of the highest total miles during one week of training which would make my total miles this week somewhere around 30 – 32 miles.  My longest run was no longer than 12 miles.  My easy days are no more than 4 miles.  I will get 2 speed workouts this week. The first was done on Monday with the help of Jen. Running with her allowed me to get in 7 miles at my marathon pace (or close enough).  The 2nd [...]

Sweet Pea Peach Salad Under Sautéed Scallops

Where did those commercials go? or don’t I watch enough T.V? I was selected in the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program for Green Giant products. A coupon for a free Green Giant product came in the mail and from the many varieties of natural vegetables offered, I chose Sweet peas. From Webster’s New World Dictionary of Culinary Arts:  “Peas”- The edible seeds contained within the pods of various vines of the family Leguminosae; the seeds are generally shelled and the pod discarded; although available fresh, peas are usually marketed canned or frozen. What’s Pea Nutrition?  Green Giant says… peas can be a [...]

CNYEats A Taste of Utica Creamy Low Fat Herb Potatoes

On page 144 of our book, and posted by Mario, is a deliciously different recipe for easy potatoes.  You’ll love it. Worry Zone and Warm Eggplant Black Bean Salad

First of all, I want to know why I get SO MUCH JUNK email on my CA Raisin Bread post! It's so frustrating!  Do you get more crap on one post than any others?  Second, Ted had a race tonight in swim class. He said he beat those little kids.  I said "REALLY? How old were they?"  His response:   "It was open [snicker, snicker, tee-hee-hee].  But the good news is that I won my age group."    So that's what it's come to?  ;) Now for my "Woe is me" rant... Back and forth from one web site to the next. [...]
