Running sense and Lemon Nut Tea Cookies

What a fun morning. The alarm went off at the usual time but I chose to take today off from running.  When Ted got up at 5 am, I also got up. We had a fun time working out with weights because Shane was being really playful.  He was racing around the gym like a crazy dog.  I worked shoulders and arms.  Ted worked his legs.  The three of us took off together for a 3.18 mile walk. Great day. Tomorrow is the long run. It is going to be another hot and humid one but I’ll be ready for [...]

Gluten Free Energy

Last night I made up for not having a weight workout first thing Monday morning.  I hate skipping out on my usual routine.  After work Monday, I went into the gym to pump up the chest and arms.  It didn’t take me long, about 40 minutes. I’m in one of those “Oh…I don’t know….”  kind of moods so I can’t tell you my workout plan for the rest of the week.  It looks like it’s going to be day-to-day. However, the goal mileage for running is between 30 – 35 miles.  A slight reduction from last week. I was reading [...]

Tuna, Tomatoes, and Noodles

Yesterday morning, just as I was about to walk out the door, the most hilarious mishap occurred.  Sometimes you really wish a video was constantly rolling to capture such moments. Joanne:  “I gotta go”.  Ted: “I WISH I could go. I have to stay home with HIM!” … Ted was teasingly referring to Shane who was eye balling him, tongue hanging out and HUGE rope ball toy at his feet.  This rope ball is about 7” in diameter with two rope extensions on each end. Great for playing tug-of-war.    At THAT moment, Shane grabbed the toy, swung it into [...]

Happy Pistachio Day

Exercise recap:   I ran my personal distance best = 13.45 miles.  The treadmill portion had to be long today because we were hit with so much snow.  I knew the Utica streets wouldn’t be clear so I went for as long as I possibly could. That was 11 miles at 9:40 pace.  At that point, Shane and I went outside to finish the last two miles.  It was deep and where the snow wasn’t deep it was slick.  I had 2 falls and tried to stay in the tracks of any car which had made its own path through the snow.  That [...]
