First it was the foot and The Secret Garden

Didn’t do a lot of running this week.  Last Sunday during a short 3 mile run/walk with Ted and Shane, my left foot started hurting. It was a nagging ache all day.  Monday through Wednesday, I continued with short runs tolerating that aching foot.  Thursday was a different story.  My entire lower half hurt from a tough leg session with the personal trainer and there was a pain in my ankle. Just walking with Shane resulted in aggravating the ankle.  The foot pain was gone, trading one pain for another. Friday, Ted took Shane for his morning walk but later [...]

Address the Pain and Piggy Pats

AMAZING SENSATION!  I put a Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patch on my hamstring. It worked IMMEDIATELY.  Initially, I loved it.  Then I took it off before going to bed and regretted ever having tried it. My hamstring was giving me so much grief.  I was going to run Wednesday morning, a long run, but thought better of it since my leg was acting up.    I keep talking about that silly muscle but continue to run. Maybe that’s not the thing to do but it was staying about the same: an irritating little pain.  It didn’t get worse but then after [...]

Running, Wrinkles, The Willows, and Rum Based Glaze

Long run today.  20.08 total miles.  This was a meaningful run because average pace was under 9 minutes, 8.58 to be exact.  Best yet for the long run. I ran with Jenn and had a great run.  She enjoys torturous runs. We went up Henderson Street, a mile long incline.  UGG!  Today’s run began with a 1.8 mile run with Shane. Can’t leave the dog out of the loop.  Then I trucked on down the Parkway for 5 miles.  Jenn and I ran about 5 miles until we split up and I continued on home.  The long way home, did [...]

A Review of the Willows and a Rain Run

It was the perfect morning:  cooking and running.  I was up and cooking. Literally.  Ted and friends were off on a golfing excursion and I was making pepper and egg sandwiches for them.  Roasting the sweet peppers, toasting the bread that was basted with olive oil, garlic, a little Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.  Cooking eggs then putting in all together.  Before making the “sammies”, I had 1/2 a banana and 1 TBS of peanut butter to fuel my intended 8 mile run which resulted in 9+.  I wanted to do at least 30 miles this week.  A few sips [...]

Working Discoveries

Dinner on Monday was eaten and over by 6:30 pm.  It was an early night.  I sat at the desk uploading photos thinking, “it’s early – why not zip into the gym for 25 minutes and get those chest and biceps out of the way?”  That’s what I did.  A 25 minute weight workout on my day off. I broke a sweat but then again, I was in jeans and a long sleeve shirt. Not workout attire but nothing got in the way so it was all good.  Yes, we all need a day off or a sleep in when [...]

Restaurant Review: Michael T’s

This morning’s run started out not so great. We ran around the college then I had to come back home to change my jacket (to hot) and settle my stomach.  We took off again and ran toward the golf course, Valley View.   I took Shane onto the grass and we ran along the fairways so he could run lose. We both like being free of each other once and a while.  We didn’t go into the switchbacks because I could see there was still snow on the pathway but we did venture up to the eagle.  There was snow and [...]
