Another year of nervous anticipation, friendly conversation, and ultimate excitement.   The California Raisin Bread Contest.  I would encourage anyone who loves baking and wants to promote their own unique recipe to others to keep your eyes open for this contest in 2012.  You won’t meet a friendlier, helpful, and all over nicer group of people than at this event.  The judges offer positive comments and tips, never making you believe you don’t have a chance of being one of the final twelve winners.  The contestants themselves are a warm, social, and uninhibited bunch.  I can’t express how much I enjoy [...]

Going Mid Range and Cinnamon Raisin Bread Maker Bread

What a weekend we had. How about you? Fun? Exciting? Relaxed? Peeerrrrffect?!!! This is how it started.. Friday night, Ted and I went to The Willows, a gourmet restaurant just minutes from our house. We have been there all of 3 times. The food is good the service slow and it proved no different Friday night.  My splurge:  2 1/2 glasses of wine. And the Winner Is…Kansas Day 3

The final day of the California Raisin Bread Competition.  What an exciting day. I won’t tell you about being awake at 3:30 am.  Nor will I tell you how I forgot my socks and one of the judges told me I had better get my socks and that Ted had to save the day pertaining to both socks and pans.  Yes, pans.  Ted had to get to Wal-Mart and purchase four 9X13 cake pans.  The AIB didn’t have the 11 X 15 I needed (with 2” sides) and neither did Wal-Mart.  I made the best out of what we could get.  [...]
