That Pain in the Butt and Post Run Breakfast

Today was my 13 mile run.  It began at a nice easy pace since I was going to tackle some hills in the planned route.  Just over 5 miles and I turned up Mallory Road.  Mallory is fun to ride down on your bike since it offers quite a nice decline.  Of course that also means, taken in the different direction, it offers quite a challenging incline.  I took the “tough guy” route and decided to run up Mallory.  It wasn’t a run.  I had to walk parts and tried doing some speed plays to make up the slow pace.  [...]

The Chronicle of The Omelette

“For the appetizing use of leftovers there is nothing to equal it.  For economy in extending small luxuries to their utmost it has no peer.  Question soft nutrition and balanced diet are answered by the infinite variety of fillings which may be enfolded within its warm embrace.  Serve omelettes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  No dish so lends itself to the inventiveness of the cook – and with less risk.”   A beautiful paragraph copied from “The Omelette Book” by Narcissa Chamberlain, 1958.  We arrived home from our vacation to find a dozen fresh eggs in our fridge.  It was impossible [...]

Lake Placid New York: Day 3

This is what I call a perfect breakfast from a warm, rustic place in town called The Dancing Bears.  It was a robust, flavorful cup of coffee with an omelet made with all my favorites.  The omelet was Eggbeaters, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, with pepper jack cheese (they didn’t have feta which was the only negative). Following the perfect weekend breakfast, we had some time to walk down the Main Street of Lake Placid and take some shots of the Olympic facilities. We had to hustle up a bit to get back and meet with the club for the Olympic trial [...]

Eggplant and Spinach Omelet or a Round Cake?

The morning weight work out, as intended, was "Day 3" of the new program posted at the bottom of last nights blog HERE.  It took me 30 minutes and was preceeded by a 3 mile run on the treadmill. After the weight workout, Shane I jogged a little but walked most of the way 44 minutes.  Not bad - beautiful morning to be outside.  It was 59 degrees and clear. Tomorrow is an aerobic day and I'm not sure what I'll do yet.  We'll see what the morning brings.  As for tomorrow night, it's the first class of Digital Photography [...]

Not a Marathon

Hello and Happy Saturday!  What a morning we had.  Here's the low down... Shane and I went for a 3.5 mile walk this morning.  He was all excited when we got home because Ted had grabbed Shane's small frisbee, some treats and the clicker in preparation for taking him to meet me at the finish line of the Heart Run.  When I left for the run at 8AM, Shane was still whining and crying and making a fuss.  What a baby! I arrived in plenty of time for the run which was to start at 9:20 but the buses left [...]
