CEimB Vanilla Spice Oatmeal

We are all so particular about our oatmeal, this recipe was definitely met with apprehension. Since I very often get stuck in my strict diet regimen (I know, I know …but it isn’t ME who eats all those baked goods!),  I tried to open myself up to this recipe and only do the smallest of tweaking.  All in the name of open minded eating.  This week’s CEimB pick is by Mary of Popsicles and Sandy Feet . A good pick and the perfect opportunity for Ted and I to enjoy oatmeal in a different way.  Did I say enjoy?! Makes [...]

Sue makes a meal with All-Bran

Starting the day without a plan. Got up then went back to bed until 5:10.  At 5:30, Shane and I went for a 3.11 mile run.  Since I was back early enough, the gym was “calling” for a quick leg workout.  It was 20 minutes of presses, deadlifts, curls, extensions, seated calf raises, and ball-wall squats.  Quick and effective.  In case you’re wondering whether I’m sore from my 16 miles yesterday,  the answer is not really.  Everything loosened up once I got going on the road.  I took it slow and decided if it felt good…do it!  I think the [...]

The Carbo-Load

It was touch and go with the scheduled long run today.  After the cross training yesterday, my right hamstring kept “pinging” me.  I grabbed the hamstring support and took it with me  just incase I had to put it on during my run. Pre run fuel at an embarrassingly early hour in the morning, 3 hours before exercise (believe it or not, I naturally wake up to eat this   - no alarm needed: 1/2 of a Sprouted wheat bagel with 1 TBS peanut butter. Doesn’t taste good when your eyes are closed and you are munching in your sleep.  [...]

Don’t Leave Me

Good walk for my rest day: 3.79 miles and worked up a sweat. I’m looking forward to running tomorrow. Now my story…there’s quite a story to tell but first we’ll begin with the AC Weekday breakfast. 1/3 cup mixture of: Cream of Rye + Steel cut oats Lots of water 1/2 banana, sliced 1 TBS raisins 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1 TBS Naturally More Peanut Butter The fruit was 1/2 a large pink grapefruit.  The protein shake was 1 scoop VPX Zero Carb Chocolate with lots of ice and water (about 12 oz) in my Apple Crumbles mug. That made it [...]

It’s a Yogurt Experiment

Geesh! My foot was so sore today!   I thought running caused bottom of the foot problems but I seem to have a top of the foot problem.  It’s so achy but there is no swelling and no bruise.  Fingers crossed that this will be another one of those pains that just goes away as quick as it came on.  I keep putting BioFreeze on it. UGG! This morning I made the BEST oatmeal.  It was 1/4 cup Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut + 1/2 tsp cinnamon + 1 TBS mixed raisins and dried blueberries + 1/2 split vanilla bean + lots [...]

What a grump!

Boy was I feeling grumpy and miserable Sunday afternoon. I didn’t feel right. Everything felt nasty. My head had a very low grade headache.  My sinuses were feeling pressurized.  My neck was sore and my stomach was topsy turvy.  Shane was annoying me.  He kept bugging to eat, then I put it down and he didn’t want it.  I played with him in the snow outside, then he wanted more.   Ted came home from snow boarding and asked if I was going next week.  I said: “No. I don’t like it”.  Well…that’s not totally true, I just didn’t like it [...]
