Naturally More Peanut Butter

Don’t Leave Me

Good walk for my rest day: 3.79 miles and worked up a sweat. I’m looking forward to running tomorrow. Now my story…there’s quite a story to tell but first we’ll begin with the AC Weekday breakfast. 1/3 cup mixture of: Cream of Rye + Steel cut oats Lots of water 1/2 banana, sliced 1 TBS raisins 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1 TBS Naturally More Peanut Butter The fruit was 1/2 a large pink grapefruit.  The protein shake was 1 scoop VPX Zero Carb Chocolate with lots of ice and water (about 12 oz) in my Apple Crumbles mug. That made it [...]

Take it for Granted

I take it for granted that I won’t get thirsty when I run.  In the five years (or is is 6?, could actually be 7  - how time flys!) that I have been running, I have felt the need for water only two times.  Both times were in the summer.   Hydration is one of my problems when exercising:  I need to drink more water, but I rarely feel thirsty. Hydration is something that shouldn’t be over looked when training.  Without sufficient water, you can get muscle cramps, dizziness, and stomach aches (gastrointestinal problems).  As we get older, for some reason [...]

Monday Exercise and Eats

Why do I get up before 4AM just to go downstairs to run on a boring treadmill, watch depressing news, and lift weights?  These are my initial thoughts as I wander into the bathroom after the alarm goes off.  During the course of the next 15 minutes, I'm trying to justify the question.  I give myself ways out such as 1. just go downstairs and get on the elliptical. 2. only run a mile today and then walk.  3.  don't lift any heavy weights. keep it simple.   When I get into our gym, without thought I switch the treadmill on, [...]

Friday – the lead in

Another week absolutely flew by. Now it's Friday, the prelude to the weekend.  No plans... not yet anyway.  Both of us got up early yesterday and today in order to work off some of that Key West fat we accumulated earlier in the week.  It was worth it....the fat accumulation of course.      This morning was a long walk with my main "dog", Shane.  We went 4.23 miles under an hour.  It was wonderful walking weather, no wind, the roads were clear. We actually saw two other dog walkers and had our usual encounter with walker "Dude".  The nutrition to get me walking and to [...]

A Healthy Tip for a Fab Thursday

This was a great tip from Ideal Bite  What words won't break your bones? The Bite Calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and vitamin D. Eat tasty foods, such as yogurt, that contain these nutrients to keep your bones strong enough to withstand even the nastiest trash talk - no supplements (and no meat, for you vegetarians) necessary. The Benefits Less hurt. Deficiencies in calcium or vitamin D, for example, can cause debilitating health problems such as osteoporosis (aka holes in your bones). Inviting some complimentary words. Good bone health makes it easier to have good posture - and a good-lookin' frame. We're [...]

Walking to a friends house

To get the system ready to move, I had 1/2 a banana with Naturally More peanut butter before Shane and I took the back roads for walking which were cleared of snow.  The MVCC parking lot was a disaster. Hopefully no one had to get in there first thing this morning because they wouldn't have been able to drive nor walk. They need a new plow guy.  Speaking of which, ours was late - he didn't arrive until about 7:15 and the paper dude, well he's STILL M.I.A. We went down some of the more travelled streets which were easier to [...]
