The FitSmart Shake

A new shake mix was on the menu, "FitSmart Shake", Chocolate Creme. It is Gluten Free, Preservative Free, and No Artificial Ingredients.  The nutrition values, in summary, are:  Calories: 155, Total Fat: <1g, Total Carbs: 17 g (Fiber=10, Sugars=2), Protein:20g.  The taste is very much like the Jay Robb Chocolate Protein that I typically use. The unfortunate characteristic about these shakes is that they don't stay mixed for long.  Enjoy it QUICKLY. Today was Back and Tricep day: Warm up with 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer.  4 sets x 12 reps: Bent over rows. One hand tricep press. Pull [...]

A Hump Day Workout

Wednesday's work out was back and triceps.  Getting up wasn't a chore since I was able to relax earlier than usual last night. I hit the massage chair at 7:45 pm and that really eliminated a lot of tension.  I went for a walk with Ted and Shane at 9pm. By 9:20pm, I was already under the covers. Zzzzzz. Back to today's exercise:   4 sets of each exercise.  I'll refer to each "set" as the back exercise immediately followed by the tricep exercise.  The first "set" was done for 20 reps. The second "set", 18 reps. Third "set", 15 reps. and finally, [...]

Surprise Yourself

Monday morning is a tough morning for most people to face.  Especially following a fun filled weekend.  That is why I leave the option of going back to bed after the alarm goes off and doing my workout later in the day.  This Monday morning the alarm light was shining bright, but the alarm had yet to sound. I shut it off before having to listen to the "beep, beep, beep".  Into the bathroom, checking all "systems".  I was wide awake just not really feeling like a workout.  Still, I followed the usual routine. Brushed teeth, washed face, into the kitchen for a [...]

Tropical Cereal

Tasting the tropics at breakfast by adding pineapple, papaya, banana and mango mint puree to hot cereal and a vanilla protein shake.  Just give me the sunshine and crystal blue water.  The cereal was cooked with the fruit and cinnamon was also added.  There was just a hint of sweetness detectable in the cereal, but the real reward was getting a chunk of pineapple or papaya in a surprise spoonful.  Yum!  The fruit in the shake was very tasty.  The mint taste stood out.   The breakfast was well deserved.  Up at 4 AM to complete a really good workout.  [...]

Get Energized

Can you believe it is already Monday?!  Get up and get energized because the week begins again (technically, some start the week on Sunday.. not me). The alarm went off and I was NOT ready for it, but up I got.  Ted insists I mumbled something, which I am denying but then again, I could have been sleep walking to the bathroom.  Today was a chest workout with biceps.  I could not, in any way, get my pre-workout shake down. I ate too many greens and beans last night which apparently had not digested, at least they didn't feel digested.  Not having [...]
