Injinji socks

This is GOOD! Aloic Aloe Vera Drink

The last mid to long haul before heading off to Disney.  Felt good about my 8 miles on Saturday and ok about my 14 miles Sunday.  The “ok” is because first, I got so tired at the 11 mile point and second, a blister popped up on my pinky toe.  I usually wear Injinji socks to prevent blisters but due to the cooler weather went with a warm, regular sock.  Lesson learned. Am I ready for the Goofy Challenge?  Oh, I don’t know.  Do you ever feel ready the week before a race or do you question your training?  I [...]

Boston 2012: The Hot One

An hour outside of Utica, on the road to Boston, MA, the heat warning messages began arriving from the BAA.org. It was only Saturday, there was still hope for cooler temperatures. By Sunday, the BAA was offering deferrals for next year. Would I defer? No way.  This was another challenge waiting to be conquered.  I knew I could go 26.2 miles, I just didn’t know how fast slow or how my body would deal with the heat.  I’ve never run more than 1 hour in temperatures over 78 degrees. Heck! I run before the sun comes up in the morning [...]

5 Degrees and Orange Chocolate Muffins

It was still dark.  I pulled on my silky “johns”, compression pants (hard to do- trust me=TIGHT!), Injinji padded toe socks, winter socks over the Injinji’s, sports bra, long shirt and (FINALLY) went downstairs.  The temperature read 2 degrees.  Ted mentioned something about it being off a few degrees so I made myself feel better by accepting that I would run in 5 degrees weather. Head sock, chapstick, mid weight running coat with vest, and thick mittens.  A reflective vest.  I was ready to go.  No Shane this morning.  I had a long run scheduled and it was too cold [...]

The Canal Classic Bike Ride

Last week, I received a notice about a Sunday morning bike ride called the Canal Classic,  a pre-race ride for all cycling racers.  I posted a message to the MVBC group asking if “C” riders could do the ride.  The response was impressive.  Most everyone said “You should do the ride. There are a few challenging hills, but it’s a great ride and CHUCK is buying all the ladies ice cream”.  Sounded good to me, the ice cream that is. Here is the link on mapmyride.  Don’t under estimate a 6% incline. HOLY MOLY those hills are endless.  Before I [...]

Chocolate with Francois Macrons

Running with Joanne, or Shane… an easy 6.72 mile run.  The morning was perfect for inspiring a nice, easy run.  It was 54 degrees and the sun was coming up, visible through the trees of the golf course. Some of the lighter colored leaves glowed in the morning light. It was perfect. I wore my Injinji socks so I wouldn't aggravate any more blisters. I also bought more yesterday. Amazing Socks had a super deal. In the gym before running, I worked back and triceps.  That took about 30 minutes.  Good workout. Yesterday, when I went into the gym to [...]
