CEimB: Mixed Berry Cobbler Pancake Cookies

This weeks Craving Ellie recipe was chosen by Pam of Cookies with boys.  Pam is always making something that is sure to please every family’s tastes.  Check out her site for this weeks recipe.  The recipe, by Ellie Krieger, can also be found at FoodNetwork.   The recipe I made, can only be found here at Apple Crumbles. I absolutely loved the sound of the Mixed Berry Cobbler, but knew we would only take a couple of bites then the rest would go to waste.  We just don’t eat desserts.  Since I didn’t want to miss this weeks cooking with the [...]

CEimB: Salmon Cakes with Ginger Sauce

This weeks pick is by Sarah of Sarah’s Kitchen Adventures. Check her site for a terrific recipe recap or go to Food Network for the Ellie recipe. I’m rushing through this one because we made a quick dinner (I knew Ellie’s recipe would be very easy to prepare), then took off to see the baby:  Dylan.  The ingredients changes: whole-wheat sandwich bread.  Swapped for Multi-Grain Arnold Sandwich Thins *Comps. of Food Buzz!   * Remove crusts from the bread, break into pieces – I used one sandwich thin and since there are no crusts on the thins simply chopped multi grain thin [...]

CEimB Shrimp fra diavolo with spinach

This weeks recipe was chosen by Jennifer of The Rookie Baker.  This was a great pick for me but questionable for the rest of the family.   My mother doesn’t like shrimp and no one except for me enjoys fra diavolo sauce. It was needless worry. Rave reviews.  We all loved it.  I was the only one with a criticism which was that it needed more Diavolo! The recipe uses 3/4 lb whole wheat thin spaghetti, 2 TBS healthy olive oil, 1 lb large shrimp and 3 cups baby spinach. The sauce is whipped up quick using 1 large, chopped sautéed [...]

Running Hallelujah and Bob’s Red Mill Grande Grains

The alarm went off an hour later than normal for a weekday. It was plenty of  time to get Shane out and go 4 or 5 miles. Preferably 5 miles to crank up the weekly total. That should put me within my weekly mileage goal of 50 after the 5K race tomorrow.  I’ll run my warm up 2 miles with Shane then the Rome Race and kiss this weeks running good bye. Hallelujah. I switched off the alarm and contemplated my motivation to run. It was Friday. It was a short run.  Oh what the hay… just do it!  There [...]

CEimB Tuna with Warm Tomato Corn Salad

First, let me tell all Vegans out there that this is not a Vegan post….no really, that’s not what I wanted to tell you…. but it isn’t a Vegan post. What I wanted to tell you is… there is a terrific new APP for the iphone called the Vegan Recipe Finder.  This is also good for all you “Meatless Monday” bloggers as well. More than 13,000 vegan recipes and more added daily. What a find! This week on cooking with Ellie.. The original recipe uses CHICKEN and was chosen by Danica of Danica’s Daily.  I could not resist two beautiful [...]

CEimB: Shortcut Collard Greens

It’s been a sad week or two for the CEimB group.  We haven’t been able to contact our site leader so we march on in hopes to hear from her again soon. This week, we move forward with Shortcut Collard Greens on page 256 of  The Food You Crave by Ellie Krieger.  Next weeks post is by Kathryn of Grandma’s Kitchen Table.  See the end of this post for the next recipe on June 17th and….. if you don’t have a blog but would like to cook along with us and comment, we will do our best to offer the [...]
