Harry and David

A Scenic Trip Expected

Before we take off on the annual Fall Tour with the club, I have to show you the wonderful delivery from Harry and David.  We received Oregon Gourmet Apples and Pears.  Now the apples we don’t need since last weekend I bought 5 lbs of Pound Sweets and 5 lbs of …..whoops! forgot the name, whatever they are, they make good eating apples. The Pound Sweets are utility grade and actually pack a good dose of sweet crispness to carry their own.  Back to Harry and David… Gorgeous!   The royal pears are described as “luxurious” because of the natural sugars occurring in [...]

I thought it was a plum

In yesterday's post I said we received our fruit order from Harry and David.  They are plums.  Well, no. They are not plums.  The fruit is in fact PLUM-APRICOTS.  Not sure about you, but that's a new fruit on my list.   Here is a little about that illusive "plum-apricot" as written in the H&D pamphlet: "..innovative cross between the plum and the apricot is the kind of delightful new taste experience you may often dream of, but seldom actually find". Ted and I both had one this morning and it was a delightful experience but for me, more plum-like so I [...]

Tofu in Special Seasoning

In the gift package from Old Bay, I received a tattoo. Doesn't it look great? It's on my right ankle. Unfortunately Ted won't take me any where until I remove it.   Anyway, click on the picture to enter the GIVEAWAY for a chance to win the beach bag, towel, seasoning and lots more.  In reading about Old Bay, I discovered it is recommended for use on any protein and not just fish. Guess I was in one of those ruts similar to the way we think of a screwdriver: It's JUST for screwing in screws. Well not so... it makes a [...]

Fancy Apple and Fancy Oats

It seemed like the rain was falling all night. It wasn't predicted to be a very pleasant day today, turning cold, possible snow.  Well, it wasn't snowing. The rain was falling very lightly at 5:30 am and the wind was blowing.  Will it ever end?  The only thing to do is turn on all the lights in the house, crank the heat up as high as it will go, and make a Pina Colada, while laying on a towel in the middle of floor wearing only your bathing suit.  No, can't do that. We have to think GREEN and that [...]

Feeling Fruity

It was a typical Friday at work.  A paperwork, bill paying type of a day.  To match the mood of doling out the dough, it rained... quite heavily at times.  The old cliche "when it rains, it pours" sure rang true this Friday afternoon.  However, there is something quite nice in the late afternoons when everyone has gone home and the rain is falling outside.  It's a little spooky. It's a little soothing.  The creeks and the pops that go on in a building when you sit all alone, listening to the rain fall, can trigger wild thoughts and exotic imagery.  You [...]
