Enter the Taper and Red Wine Gluten Free Chocolate Cake

This is it. The most looked forward to yet dreaded part of marathon training, tapering.  When all your hard work comes to a head, you need to reduce those miles and make every workout count. There are many schools of thought when it comes to tapering.  One rule is to reduce training by 15% in the third last week before a marathon. Reduce training again by 10% in the 2nd last week. The theory behind the taper is that the reduction in work will allow complete muscle recovery from months of training.  It will bring back the shock absorbing capacity [...]

WOW Runners and Gluten Free Honey Pound Cake

Sunday morning was one of the best mornings.  Since we rolled the clocks back one hour, it seemed there was so much time to accomplish all my daily goals. As I was baking up a storm, one recipe right after another, Ted was able to stream the NYC Marathon on his iPhone since television and computer wasn’t offering it in our area. It was exciting! It was a great victory for Mutai. Boston AND New York in the same year. Wow!   But I really wanted to see how the women did. SOURCE:  Dado and New York-resident Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba passed [...]

Wasn’t meant to be crumb cake

AND THE WINNER IS……. SUE wins the $35.00 gift certificate from BAR FURNITURE!  I used the Random Number Generator and it picked sister SUE! Yay Sue! That’s pretty easy. I don’t even have to ask for her address and phone. The Saturday run: Up at 5:15 and drank 3/4 of an Isopure Plus drink.  Put on the belt so Shane and I could have some water and out we went.  I really hate carrying water and having that belt around my waist but we were going out for over an hour and dogs need water.    Our route took us around [...]

Banana Bundt Cake: A Gluten Free Recipe

Digital Photography Class:  It has been a while since I last updated everyone on all the tips and tricks.  Well, we are still working in and trying to find our way around PhotoShop.  It's pretty amazing photo editing software.  This past week, Ted gave me a very old, worn, faded photograph of his parent's wedding ...whoops! It wasn't his parents wedding it was his father's NIECES wedding (Ted's dad is on the far left).  I took it into class and asked if anything could be done to it.  AMAZING!  We photographed the PHOTOGRAPH and then edited it (that took 3 [...]
