The Routine

It's Monday and back to the weekday routine.  Ted arrived home safely and full of weekend tales of "Men on Golf Outing Without Women".  Based on most of the details, women wouldn't have wanted to be present.  There was an unfortunate 12 year old boy that was the only other member attending the golf school over the weekend.  He was either entertained by the older 4-some or went home to tell his parents never to do that to him again.  Poor kid. As  I said, it's back to the routine which began at 4AM. It was a touch-and-go situation because in [...]

Those darned bamboo

Upon returning from our 3 1/2 mile run, Shane and I found Ted industriously wielding an ax in the back yard.  He has declared war on some very determined bamboo type brush that insists on growing and blocking our view of the waterfall in the creek.  He said his back was stiff before embarking on the bamboo endeavor, but the chopping seemed to loosen it up.  My thoughts? ...wait until tonight. As for the workout this beautiful Tuesday morning, it was chest and biceps, preceded by 37 minutes on the Elliptical trainer.  Breakfast was 1/3 cup dry (more than normal [...]

Kitchen Mishap

There was an accident in the kitchen last evening while preparing dinner so I am temporarily one typing finger short.   Therefore this mornings post will be told in pictures.         That's it for now.  I would take a pic. of my injury but it's too gross for me to look at it. Ted is having to change the bandages.  Have a great day!

Blueberry Hill

It was a pretty descent morning for a longer walk outside.  It was 25 degrees, no wind, no snow.  The roads were slick in some areas but for the most part, clear.  We explored a couple of different neighborhoods and took advantage of some short hills.  Our mileage for today, 4.3 miles.  We walked and just jogged along a little. The 1/2 banana with about 1 TBS peanut butter was my pre-walk kick in the behind.  For breakfast, I was feeling berry-ish.  I made a Smooth Banana Protein Shake with 1/2 cup frozen blueberriesand 1/2 cup FUZE.  My hot cereal [...]

When's it Gonna End

Snow again. Ug! It's nasty snow as well. Falling like tiny icicles, stinging the eyes as the swirling wind whips it into your face from every angle.  It makes you wonder why you even stepped out the door.  But.... dogs must walk. At least I began the day working up a sweat in the gym. I tried running but an angry hamstring wasn't going to hear of that. So I managed a slow mile and switched to the elliptical for 25 minutes.  That was followed by 45 minutes of work on the back and triceps as follows: 8 x 20 [...]

Pinned

As I forced myself through the first 2 miles on the treadmill, I was thinking there was no way I was doing 4 miles on it this morning. It was a struggle. After those first 2 miles though, it was a little easier and I did manage the 4 miles in 35 minutes. The weight workout for the day was chest and biceps which is where the "pinned" comes in. I decided to do 8 sets of chest presses at an incline coupled with 8 sets of rope curls.  12 repetitions of everything.  While on the last set of chest presses, I decided to lower the weight [...]
