It's a Chick's and Cat's World

The animal world that exists at Donna's house.  Who is Donna? Shane's doggy sitter.  Donna comes to the house four times a day to feed and play with Shane when Ted and I are away.  He has such a great time with her!  She's "Auntie Donna" to Shane.  Donna is the owner of a pet sitting service called "Paws and Claws Pet Sitting".  She is so reliable and actually becomes part of the family.  Such a great feeling when you go away to know that your pet is so well cared for.  Donna feeds birds, cares for cats, dogs... not sure [...]

Top of the Tuesday To Ya!

Happy Tuesday!  It's going to be a beautiful day today and that just makes you feel good. This morning was a good workout for legs beginning with 20 minutes of Elliptical Training while watching Tyler Florence on "How to Boil Water".   Then straight into legs:  5 sets x 20 reps of leg presses. 5 sets x 12 reps of squats. 4 sets of the following, doing 12 to 20 repetitions of each:  Leg curls and dead lifts.  Leg extensions and Seated Calf raises. Shane and I went for a run, 4.4 miles.  A very nice road crew worker stopped us [...]

Those little sections

Don't you just love finding those little orange sections when you split your orange in half?  They are so sweet and, for some reason, more fun to eat. Yes, it is Monday once again.  Good things happening this week in Utica. It is the annual Heart Run and Walk to benefit the American Heart Association.  I'm looking forward to working at the Utica Road Runner table at the Expo on Friday from 9 - 11 AM.  I haven't decided whether I will run the 5 mile, 3 mile, or walk with Shane on the 3 mile walk.  I'm waiting to [...]

When's it Gonna End

Snow again. Ug! It's nasty snow as well. Falling like tiny icicles, stinging the eyes as the swirling wind whips it into your face from every angle.  It makes you wonder why you even stepped out the door.  But.... dogs must walk. At least I began the day working up a sweat in the gym. I tried running but an angry hamstring wasn't going to hear of that. So I managed a slow mile and switched to the elliptical for 25 minutes.  That was followed by 45 minutes of work on the back and triceps as follows: 8 x 20 [...]

Checking for blood

When I got back from our walk this morning, I was sure my face would have hundreds of blood dots on it. The ice falling from the sky was like sharp little needles (again!).  We had to strategically plan our walk away from the East where the wind seemed to be coming from and consequently driving the freezing rain into our eyes and faces.  We managed a 2 1/2 mile walk in about 35 minutes. The roads weren't that slippery.  The rest of today's weather report: BAD! Today's nourishment went a little like this. 1 scoop of VPX (pre-workout) 1 [...]

Diffused Olive Oil

It's a day off from work but not from working out.  We slept a little later, about 1 hour longer in bed but went down and pumped some iron.  I bought a new protein to try and started with a pre workout shake: It has a good clean taste, mixes very easily and is great for a low carb diet. The workout today consisted of 40 minutes on the treadmill.  It was impossible to run outside. The snow was falling so heavily and it was 20 degrees with a wind.  So 4.5 miles for the last day of [...]
